He asserted his right to select the likes of Shane Duffy/approach eligible Irish nationals. Or perhaps for simply for working for the FAI.

Who has he approached now? Or was it something he said?

He lives in Ireland, probably possesses a green coat and made the vicious mistake of once cheering for the soccer team in public...

    Does that suffice?

Would be great if it was Ryan McLaughlin

    It wouldn't surprise me.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Their author will know better, but not all those quotes have such a level of topicality.

The irony of course, that many of them, could have been said at any time....

To the best of my knowledge, Noel King hasn't said anything in relation to McLaughlin.

    I boycotted last night's match - thankfully.

But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise

Are you worried you might have to switch your allegiance to us if he establishes himself as a first-team regular?

You and the rest of the world then.

    That must have been hard.

No matter how bad it gets, my allegiance will never be to you lot.

My love of International football is slowly dying by a thousand cuts.

PS: I'm surprised you haven't latched onto the breaking news of who the "Football For All" mascot was at the last Northern Ireland home match - front page news in this morning's Irish News.

    Sometimes I despair.

The prospect of 4 nights All Inclusive at £145 was very tempting - but then I realised Bruce would be there.

I didn't even listen to the match on the radio.

Wanted to watch the England game, but Mrs Brazil insisted on watching the "Hairy Bikers" cooking up some kack - tedious crap as that was, it sounds as if it was a whole lot better than the match in Malta.

Don't worry, we have enough moaners already!

And who was the mascot? Arlene Foster...

A lot more "controversial" than Mrs Foster.

Bruce was on the plane to Malta long before the friendly with Malta was announced.

    Just seeing this now: http://www.newsletter.co.uk/news/hea...test-1-4761732

PROMINENT flag protest speaker Jamie Bryson was a mascot for the Northern Ireland football team just weeks before the start of the protests, it has emerged.

In a statement published in today’s Irish News, the Irish Football Association said Bryson - who chairs the Ulster People’s Forum - had been used as a last minute replacement for the normal mascot, who had taken ill ahead of the home match against Azerbaijan.

A spokesman for the IFA told the paper: “The regular mascot was unavailable for the game and his replacement took unwell... and Mr Bryson stood in at the last minute.

    “This was a one off.

“Mr Bryson is not involved in any of the association’s community relations projects.”

Last week, Jamie Bryson revealed that the Ulster People’s Forum had opted for a new strategy of white lines protests, a move which was criticised by his Forum partner Willie Frazer.

In a webchat with the News Letter, last month, Jamie Bryson revealed that he had shaken hands with Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.
    And then there are these:

Hmm, is Jamie a closet republican setting out to discredit unionism/loyalism from within?...
