Just had a read of that article. I actually feel somewhat sorry for the IFA reading it. I've no idea what Gerrys salary, retainer, stipend or other form of remuneration package is like -but if it were me paying it out to someone to do a somewhat unique job that requires tact and consideration -well I'd expect them to acquaint themselves with the facts to a far more diligent degree than is evident.

Why? Gerry has been coached by the IFA - he's only reiterating the party line.

I would fear for the welfare of your local friendly IFA spokesperson from the wrath of the rabble, if he/she came out with,
'eh well, actually it has nothing to do with the GFA',
'actually, there are no loopholes in FIFA's eligibility rules'
'maybe we should move a few steps away from victimhood here'.
