For Ireland, WC 2002. At club level, I'd say his best season was Mourinho's first title winning season at Chelsea.

This is true. I do remember the WC though with him running around like crazy and the Spanish announcers (Goooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaallll) on Univision raving about him. "Damien Doof"
    Good times.
Manager said he would have to put him in a cage to keep him from wearing the Green shirt even remotely healthy. Will go down as one of the most passionate players ever to wear green....

Was completely anonymous against Liverpool. With Kakuta coming in from Chelsea on loan he might get some rest.

first 6 months of 2002. remember him making a danish right back look svery stupid on a bumpy lansdowne pitch in march that year, typified his form at that time. also, was in the UEFA team of the year in 2002.

Club - Has to be Chelsea's first title winning season under Mourinho. Himself and Robben were fantastic to watch. Chelsea have been pretty dull ever since, more muscle than guile.

Country - Probably the 2002 era alright. He used take players on from a standing start. He stopped doing this as he got older, would opt to retain possession and only take players on if he had a run on them. That happens to most players with age anyway.

Wasn't too bad a few minutes ago putting Fulham ahead against his old club, Newcastle.

Fulham goal: Deadlock broken, and the hosts just about deserve it. Danny Murphy's ball over the top finds Damien Duff rushing forward, the Irishman holding Jose Enrique off and pinging home the opener.
