Just an attempt at levity. Wednesday (Trevor Francis) brought him to England, offered him a trial, he was offended that he should have to belittle himself with a trial, Leeds snapped him up and the rest as they say is history.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Whole thing smacks of mutally beneficial publicity stunt to me -rather than having a whole lot of much to do with football of any kind. "Director of Football/Soccer" apparently means something in some continental set-ups but it's generally reserved for Roy Evans types the parent club don't have the heart to sack. But in this instance -likely a figurehead and broadly dutiless position -a few photocalls aside.
