C'mon, Dev, no need to get your tri-colour-adorned panties in a twist.

The prevalence of your 'national flag' in Belfast doesn't bother one in the slightest, if that's what others aspire to and as is their wont. Even if it were to fly officially over Belfast city, my allegiance will remain wedded to the Union Flag.

    Not "insecure" in the slightest.

Be carefull here, Lux. Some might say that you're having an identity crisis (It's just I've been accused of that old chestnut before. ).

BTW, your handle. Just wondering, I get the feel of a hotel behind it. Las Vegas? Always intrigued by these things. Especially if there's a sleasy story behind it.

You read too much into things, Dev, don't you?

I guess your view of that "archaic colonial state" differs to mine and therein lies the crux of my "justification".

Happily Irish, under the Union Flag.

Lopez - I would guess your knowledge of the New York underground scene of the late 1970s is fairly limited

Indeed, I could even leave behind Erin's green and pleasant land (do ya see what I did there? ) and get myself a job on a building site in N4 (oh, go on, it's Neasden)

But I don't need to do that to enjoy my perfectly legitimate dual aspirations.

Yeah but my knowledge of the London Underground scene since the early eighties is pretty extensive, and the place is falling apart at the seams.

Not when there's a spineless government and big army to ensure democracy doesn't prevail.

Sorry, but are you talking about Irish here? Wishful thinking no doubt, but the language is still alive. I've seen it spoken as an only language, let alone a first language, second language or something you were force fed at school. Perhaps you need to see a bit more of your country...or is it your country's neighbour? And I've yet to visit either Connemara or a chucky shebeen on the Falls Road. I'd even bet there will be an all-Ireland republic before the Irish language dies as a first language for everyone in Ireland...and I only bet on dead certs.

That's a shame, i know a lot of pub's in Belfast and other part's of the north east do pick up TG4 because they used to show the highlight's of SPL game's on monday night's and pub's on the Shankhill used to be packed apparently, i think you can get radio na geal on the ntl package, so if yer can yer should give it a listen, it'll prove that yer native laungage is far from dead.

Apparently, with the expansion of the EU, my 'native language' will be more global, the net result being that learning a foreign language at GCSE will be no longer compulsory.

To be fair, sylvo, any package that shows the highlights of SPL sounds like one to avoid
