    League Cup Success

Great result last night. Well done Alan Barry He was due a goal for all the hard work put in this season. Looks like Cork in the Quarters I am told. Dont know if it's home or waay. Anyway how bad, looks like we are starting to gel on the pitch and the season is looking more promising.

Haven't done this in a while so here goes...

John Healy - Horribly at fault for Kilkenny's first goal but that gaffe aside made a number of good saves. Still lacking consistency though his distribution has come on in leaps and bounds. 6

Stephen O'Mahony - Solid, tidy, efficient. Disappointing for him to lose his place in the U-19 international side but their loss is our gain. Seemed to take a knock late on though. 7

Mike Ahearne - Impressed me overall. Got forward well and his little step-over flick turn was the best piece of skill I've seen all year. 7

John Whyte - Organised things well and was peerless in the air. Wholly commited and hard-working. Came forward well on occassion too. 8

Conor Molan - Distributed well from the back and showed a bit more guile in his passing than most of his team-mates. 7

Thomas Hughes - Tried hard and can't be faulted for effort or commitment but seemed a bit uncertain out wide. A solid full-back and central midfielder, out on the wing might be one position too far. 6

Jonathan Mernagh - Would almost certainly have scored if a hamstring problem hadn't grounded him in the second half. Not his best game even before that though our insistence on pumping the ball long down the middle at times didn't do him or Thomas Hughes any favours. 6

David Conway - Agressive running and tackling throughout. Conway does simple things very well and gives a bit of shape. 7

Ollie Keogh - Got involved and knocked the ball about a bit. Looked more comfortable when he pulled out wide though. 6

Colin O'Brien - Showed a lot more commitment and took his goal well. Showed for everything and could have had a second goal with some luck. 8

Alan Barry - Ever before his goal, Barry had covered ever blade of grass and worked his ass off for the cause. Competed well in the air and pressurised Kilkenny's defence. My man of the match. 8

    Sub:
Ebbie Quigley (for Mernagh) Ran about well enough and got involved but seemed to be slightly off the pace at times. I think he'll come good though. 6
The ball is round and has many surprises.

I think we can safely say he would be well up for that game. It would be nice to see him bag a few goals against City. I presume there is nothing in the loan arrangement that says he can't play against City. Could Morientes all over again.

The last time we played City we hastened the departure of their last manager. Maybe we can do the same for the current one.

Thats fighting talk! Id say we will play a second string team again but it will still be a good game!

We'll probably play a second string as well. Key players are bound to be rested in such an unimportant competition.

    League Cup Success

    Hey there Shannonsiders

Congrats on being in the Quarter-finals. I predicted the League Cup would be a good thing for the team. Your lot should climb the table even further over the next few weeks. See you in the Final hopefully
