Thought it was a strange name myself, if not somewhat militaristic. Are there 2nd and 3rd Shankill NISCs?

    Yes, really.

Other "Official" Northern Ireland Supporters Clubs include:

    1st Ballymena
    1st Banbridge
    1st Castlereagh
    1st Dromore
    1st Finaghy
    1st Glentoran
    1st Linfield
    1st Maze
    1st Newry
    1st Royal, Cookstown
    1st Scotland

Non members of HM Armed Forces and paramilitary organisations are more than welcome.

Not an unusual concept - eg, Dublin No 1 & Lurgan No 1 CSC.

It simply refers to the first SC in the town/area.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

Sounds like an army regiment or, dare I say it, a paramilitary unit. The name is is very poor taste in my opinion. What's wrong with NI Supporters Club, Shankill Bracnch or something normal?
    What?

This is an even more ridiculous post than the ones ArdeeBhoy comes out with?

The boys brigade (a church group thing) use the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc notation too. I assume the girls brigade do the same.

NI Supporters Club, Shankill Branch is evidently ambiguous as there are 3 official clubs in the shankill area (1st Shankill and then 2 Woodvale clubs), not to mention there are probably other unofficial ones too.

That being said, I don't think there are any "2nd" clubs as clubs would tend to just choose a different name if they are from the same area (ie North Coast SC and Coleraine SC).

    Where are they based...Dundonald?

You can add 1st Tyneside to the list also.

Albert Foundry are another Shankill Club.

Maybe you think so, which I can't help, but to the unitiated like me it all sounds very, eh, regimental. Just voicing my instinctive opinion. NB has shed useful light on it for me though, which I appreciate, but it still all sounds a bit militaristic to me. I'm not saying that you need to be a soldier or even a paramilitary to be a member, but the nomenclature is just a bit odd. Maybe ROI SCs have the same, but if they did I'd find it equally distatsteful.

Sorry, we'd forgotten all those other profoundly intellectual interjections from your good self....

And Stutts, Irish SC's don't use the same prefix.

    Lots of injuries, pull-outs etc etc. From what I can make out those in the squad and available for selection against the North are;

    Goalkeppers
    Given,
    Forde.

    Defenders
    Dunne,
    O'Dea?,
    Foley,
    Fahey,
    Delaney,
    Coleman,
    Kilbane,
    Kelly,
    McShane.

    Midfielders
    Andrews?,
    McCarthy,
    Whelan,
    Wilson,
    Lawrence,
    Treacy,
    Hunt,
    Ward.

    Strikers
    Keogh,
    Walters,
    Keane.

Stokes will never be good enough to play for Ireland. No loss.

Bit of a squad update here.

Looks like Cox and Andrews will play, and Best could yet join up with the squad. Stoke contingent could miss out against NI since they don't arrive in Dublin tomorrow. If so, possible team?:

    Given
    Foley
    Delaney
    Dunne
    Kelly/McShane
    Lawrence
    Andrews
    McCarthy
    Hunt
    Cox
    Keane

Total guess, especially since a few squad members (Fahey, Hunt, Foley, Ward, McCarthy) played a very heavy 90 minutes just yesterday. Wouldn't surprise me he left those guys out in favour of others.

I'd say Treacy is more likely to start on the left, having been off for longer.

That squad is a LOT stronger than ours and anything other than a win by at least 3 clear goals will end up as a poor result for you.

Couldn't agree less. Anything less than a double digit victory for us would be a poor result.

I wouldn't mind seeing that team at all. Nothing hinging on this game so put Jimmy Mc in the engine room and forget this 'in the hole' witchcraft. Should Shay feature I'm sure I won't be the only one wincing at every stretch and dive.

The Welsh are going to outnumber the Northern Ireland supporters by a 2:1 ratio in the Aviva on Friday night.

    We've sold 48 tickets, and Wales 100.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild

what about northern ireland supporters Shankhill brigade stutts?

Is that EGs banner, i have to say its a good one liner, give him credit where its due.

It does just show how silly he is though and that he needs to create these banners to massage his inferiority complex, or as he sees it superiority complex.

I remember folk saying this tournament would be brilliant. Fans, atmosphere and games that matter because of the passion involved because your playing your rivals/neighbours. Instead it has been an absolute disaster. **** up after **** up.

    48 Northern Ireland fans?!

Be fair. It's reached the dizzy heights of c.200 for tonight.
And it is an 'official boycott'.
