Irish times - Monday - Irish players in Britain

Although far from perfect (a few notable omissions e.g. Ciaran Clark), the Irish times print a useful table every Monday of the Irish lads playing in Britain, how many appearances/goals etc they have had this season.

A couple of names that I have noticed that I dont know a whole lot about, anyone who can shed any further light, good or bad, then please do:

Richard Keogh, defender at Coventry. They are going well so far this season, anyone know much about him. I see he is 24 and has a handful of U21 caps for us.

David Bell, also at Coventry. Midfielder, only has one appearance at B level for us.

Mark O'Brien at Derby, only 18 years of age, has made a few substitute appearances this year. Appears to have a few health problems last year which are cleared up now. May well but one to watch out for.

Shane O'Connor, only 20 from Cork. A defender at Ipswich. Was on liverpools book but moved to Ipswich in summer 2009 and has signed a long term deal there. Only a handful of appearances this season but again to be making the breakthrough at his age is very positive.

Michael Collins, 24 at Scunthorpe. Was Irish captain at U19 level but only ever made a handful of appearances at U21 level.

One lad who isnt on the list but I have kept an eye out for is Jamie Devitt at Hull. The lad is from Dublin, only 20 years of age and has had a few loan spells over the last year or so. Made the breakthrough to the Hull first team, playing in defence this year. Again with his young age, playing first team makes you sit up and take notice. Hopefully one to watch.

Just refer to Tets' 'Irish Abroad' Database and then enter the name in the 'search' field to get the latest thoughts on each player
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

"No, I drink to help me mind my own business....can I get you one? (c) Ronnie Drew

Fair play indeed. I'd stumbled across that site before but didn't realise a member of this forum was behind it.

cheers lads, been going for five seasons now. Quite proud of it actually.
Been planning a bit of an overhaul to the look of the site for a while now, looks a bit ugly, but time, work, etc are all against me, which is the reason why the weekly updates in the main thread have been reduced to just the monthly updates. Adam has included the twitter feed - http://twitter.com/irish_abroad - in the Feeds folder though so people can be alerted when the site is updated. Generally, it's every Sunday night with the weekend games and Friday with the midweek games.

irishfan86 and TheBoss have been assisting me this season collecting Aiden McGeady's appearance data at Spartak and Sheridan's appearance data at CSKA Sofia respectively

The PFA Players Guide, comes out every season, price in region of €20/£17? is an excellent guide to all the players in their top 4 divisions.

Guarantee, every season you'll find people you've never heard of. And can even track all those 2G players filling-up the North's junior teams!

Shane O'Connor looked to have had a very good game in Ipswich's win over Leicester at the weekend. The team included fellow countrymen Delaney and Kennedy while O'Dea was dropped to the bench. Irish wannabe Norris also looks like a useful player, Keane has promoted him to captain.

Paddy Madden has impressed on loan at Burnley with boss Laws wanting to take another look at him in the New Year. He must have seen something despite all the stick he gets from Bhos's fans.
