Yeah he read out emails from myself, theCorner and Trevor. I think we all made our points fairly well, we basically all said the same thing.... that Turners Cross is a safe place for kids and that Rovers cause truble whereever they go. I invited him to come to the Longford game on friday but he declined my offer as he said he doesn't believe he personally would be safe in the Cross.
I thought the City fan who rang up also made a few good points and showed the Rovers fans up for the scum they are.
A woman also rang up who was on the train with them and she seemed quite distressed at the Rovers fans behaviour. Prendeville then said that you could tell Rugby fans to shut up but not football fans because they are "inferior life"! (I hope he was referring to Rovers fans and not football fans in general).
As for the woman who said she was appaled at the language in the Shed.... ffs get out more darling!

He also read out a statement from Brian Lennox in which he did nothing to condemn City fans and layed the blame with Rovers fans. He even mentioned "trouble at a lot of games between Dublin teams".

The general consensus of nearly everyone who rang/wrote in was that Rovers fans were to blame. Prendeville even said that they really seem like a bad bunch.

Yeah well you must have got to him if he didn't give a response!

Did you notice what he said at the very end of the show about people mistaking callers/emailers views for his view and so on.... it was as if he was trying to didn't want to accept responsibility for what he had said!

He's off on holiday for a week now so that should be an end to the debate. City fans came out of this mornings show smelling of roses anyway and Rovers were made look like monsters.

I don't think either side came out too well. The main theme from it all was that Turners Cross is not a safe place to go to a match. And I don't think your email(Colm) came across too well. All it sounded like is that you were passing the buck onto the Rovers supporters.

exactly, he blamed it on the history of Rovers. It sounded like horse**** to me considering we know what Colm thinks of the incident.

Nice touch at the end though "Neil, you should come to the match next Friday?"

Thats like asking Osama bin Laden to come on a weekend shopping break to 5th Avenue new York.

Are you sure you're not confusing my email with Brian Lennox's statement because Prendeville did accuse him of trying to pass the buck.
I think Lennox's statement was spot on to be honest, he didn;t say anything bad about City fans and pointed out that Rovers are always causing trouble.

Cheers Xtreme. I think all 3 of our emails came accross very well and made a point about how Turners Cross is a safe place and how Rovers are always causing trouble. The main thing is that the club got no more bad publicity this morning, the most critical thing anyone had to say was the stupid cow who was offended by the language and the chanting. I think this mornings show should have convinced everyone that City matches are a great place to bring your kids and are a great night out. As theCorner said, job well done.

    ..............................................

Fair nuff ... wnt well ... but we all know ourselves that a City fan started it so no matter what was said on the radio, there is no getting away from that. Unless you want to deny it ever happened that is.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Lads, being physically incapable of tuning to 97 MHz, I never hear MoronFM. So could you be so kind to post those emails on here?
    Thanks.

    Here's mine anyway Pat....

    Hi Neil,
Just a quick note to say I witnessed what happened in Turners Cross on Friday night last and it is being blown out of all proportion by you and your radio station in my opinion.
It was a minor incident which only lasted for a few minutes and did not jeporadise the safety of any patrons who were not involved. It must also be noted that this was the first incident of crowd trouble in Turners Cross for many years. Therefore, I would like to point out that Turners Cross is an extremely safe enviornment for children and families.
Football violence is not common place in the eircom league and in particular at Cork City matches, this was an isolated incident. I also believe that it would be unfair to lay the blame for the incident at the feet of City supporters as the trouble only started as a Shamrock Rovers fan was being arrested for a seperate offence and some of his friends left their designated area, moving in the direction of City supporters. Shamrock Rovers fans have caused trouble at numerous other games this year and in the past, Cork City fans have not. Cork City fans are usually very well behaved and create a wonderful atmosphere whereever they go.
Cork City games are always a wonderful occasion and are as good a form of entertainment as any in this City. I hope that many of your listeners will come to Turners Cross this Friday for the match with Longford, I encourage people to bring their children and their friends and they are sure of a good trouble free night out. Perhaps you and your children will attend the game yourself Neil? Pat Dolan's Rebel Army deserve the support of the entire City and County.

    Yours in football,
    Colm O'Sullivan.

    Nice one Colm, thanks.
Did Prenderville claim that it would not be safe for him at the Cross?
    Why does he think that?
Sure no one gives a sh*t about the tosser.....

Yeah, that's what he said.... that he didn't think the Cross would be a safe place for him to go. It was just an excuse because I reckon 99.9% of people wouldn't even know what he looks like or care for that matter. He just didn't want to attend a sporting event as he prefers to watch them on TV (something he admitted on yesterdays show!).... it's no wonder he's so appaled by the level of language at the Cross, you don't hear the crowds comments when watching sport on telly.
