Murphy deffo not signed in time to be registered for Cliftonville game. I think same applies to McFaul but not 100% certain.Cliftonville are doing well and are much sharper on the match practice front. Any pats fans at it think it can be turned around in the second leg ? Big ask to chase such a lead.
At 3 down with 20 miutes to go, I thought we'd get level last night. We were on top that much!
[cliche]If we can get an early goal, who knows[/cliche]

McMullan crushes Pat's
Cliftonville 3
St Pat's Ath 0
Setanta Cup

St Patrick's Athletic suffered a heavy loss against Cliftonville in last night's first-round, first-leg encounter at Solitude.
Despite enjoying the bulk of possession and creating some decent opportunities, Pat's were handed a lesson in finishing by a Cliftonville side which will take a healthy advantage into next week's return meeting.
Saints' preparations for this match were hardly ideal, with last week's proposed friendly with Waterford United falling victim to a watterlogged Richmond Park pitch ahead of Friday night's run-out against Longford, which ended in defeat.
Evan McMillan sent a second- minute header over the top and Daryl Kavanagh failed to get sufficient power into a decent close-range chance soon later.
Daniel North was then unfortunate when his effort from a narrow angle was kept out by home 'keeper John Connolly before Cliftonville took the lead.
There seemed little danger as Barry Johnston attempted to fashion an opening outside the area until he teed up George McMullan, who curled home a beauty from 25 yards.
Connolly then denied North before the hosts doubled their advantage when Mark Holland bundled home from a corner.
McMullan then claimed his second of the night when his 48th-minute effort found the net via a deflection off McMillan, while Sean Stewart's point-blank strike was stopped by Connolly late on.
CLIFTONVILLE -- Connolly, Fleming, B Holland (O'Connor 46), M Holland (Donnelly 71), McMullan, C Scannell, Garrett, Seydak, Johnston, Kane, McVeigh.
ST PAT'S -- Rogers, Pender, Bermingham, E McMillan (Stewart 82), Kavanagh, Bradley, North, D McMillan, Doyle (Keegan 65), Shortall, Crowley ( O'Brien 74).
REF -- D Malcolm (Bangor).

The first 30 mins Cliftonville definately rode their luck but when McMullan got the goal they came into it more. St Pats had the greater pocession and had a load of corners but just couldn't do anything with it as Cliftonville stood firm at the back. We have been struggling for goals this season so to get 3 was a pleasant surprise. There was a decent crowd up from Dublin and they looked well with the flares and all at the start.
Does anyone have confirmation of what the rules are for the 2nd legs.
Away goals? ET? Pens? Toss of a coin? Make it up on the night a la LSC?
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

.....
The winning team shall be the team scoring the greater aggregate of goals in the two matches.
In the event of the scores being level at the end of the second match the team scoring more away goals shall be declared the winning team.
If at the end of the second match the scores are level and both teams have scored the same number of away goals two 15 minute periods of extra time shall be played.
If during extra time the same number of goals are scored by both teams the away team shall be declared the winning team by virtue of having scored more away goals.
If no goals are scored during extra time the tie will be decided by a penalty shoot out in accordance with the conditions approved by the International FA Board.
In the event of a penalty shoot out the referee shall determine at which end of the pitch the penalty kicks are taken.
Bang on Mr Parker...Apologies, I was incorrect in earlier post.
So in the event of an aggregate tie, it is
1) Away Goals
2) Extra Time
3) Away Goals in Extra Time
4) Penos

Bad enough that RTE TV (6-1) didn't even list tonight's fixture, but neither did the Star, which you'd expect to. Did anyone see the Indo, had they got it?
Results
Lisburn 2-0 UCD (2-0)
Dundalk 1-1 Linfield (6-4)
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
Dundalk play Glentoran. Does anyone know who Lisburn have in next round?
"Even if the sun ceases to rise, Even if the sea ceases to flow, Even if the wind stops to blow, The name of Sligo Rovers will shine and shine forever like the morning, glinting star in the sky."
Neither club (UCD or Lisburn) had a result on their websites up to ten minutes ago. Wonder of wonders, RTE Radio 1 Sports just carried results of both tonight's games!
PS: rte.ie/sport/soccer also had both results.![]()
