On a related point, would every county be able to name an XI?
What county would have the best XI. Players must be born in the county and must of played LOI e.g Waterford would not be allowed John O Shea but Wexford can use Kevin Doyle.
Maybe pick your counties best XI from 1990-Present
I'll go with 4-3-3
Waterford:
GK: Brian Murphy
RB: John Hayes
CB: Kenny Browne
CB: David Breen
LB: John Frost
RCM: Alan Kirby
CM: John "Chilli" Power
LCM: Shane Robinson
FW: Daryl Murphy
FW: Noel Hunt
FW: Paschal "Snackbox" Keane

Nope Dublin XI aswel. A lot to choose from but you can try. Maybe you could break it up into north or south
Hanley
Keane Sinnott Hawkins Davo
Russell Seamie Foley O'Donnell
Faherty Molloy
oh boy I'm not good at football forums
It's a bit strange to call the thread 'Hometown XI' if it's based on counties and not towns.
Gerard Doherty
Eddie McCallion
Peter Hutton
Darren Kelly
Sean Hargan
Paddy McCourt
Barry Molloy
Kevin Deery
James McClean
Liam Coyle
Paddy McEleney
Clubs should be encouraged to have more players from there town/county,this would make for better future Ireland players and a good sense of pride within clubs.

Devine
Horgan Daly Bennett Delaney
Keane Healy Freyne
O'Callaghan
O'Flynn O' Donovan
Based on players I've seen since '98 with one obvious exception, Joe Gamble for the token Queenstown man otherwise.
A man can have no greater love than give 90 minutes for his friends.
you must of picked current 11 still playing because hawkins is the only one who would make the team and davo isnt from galway
this would be my 11 on players ive seen
?
PETER CARPENTER, CHICK DEACY, COLIN HAWKINS, STEPHEN LALLY
TOMMY KEANE MARK HERRICK, NOEL MERNAGH GER MULLAN
RICKY O FLAHERTY JUMBO BRENNAN

17. Keith Dignam (Have to extend my squad to include the first ever scholarship recipient)
I'm sure there's many others who deserve to be in there, but I'm not sure who was actually in UCD and who wasn't. All the above are scholarship recipients.
Didn't go to UCD I think. Could well be wrong, but that's my suspicion.
Tony went to DCU afaik.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
