No sympathy for them. Shouldn't even be in the league. They don't have any fans, and they just take our tax money that'd be better spent subsidising yak butter and archery events.

About 10 minutes in. Some Liverpool stuff in the second half. Of course Liverpool are, in many ways, more Irish than Celtic themselves.
    Are they hell.

I've heard the actual quote, and it's hard to argue with him:

"In some ways, Celtic is more Irish than any sporting club in Ireland, because it represents and embodies this absolutely central Irish experience."

Supporting your local team instead of one in a foreign country is hardly a "central Irish experience"
You can have an Irish experience without actually being in Ireland. It's narrow minded to say otherwise.

I thought that was having an Oirish experience?

In all seriousness, the problem is not that people support other teams in other countries its that they do it exclusively or don't acknowledge local soccer teams. Last nights Rovers game was last night was an example of the attitude.

Whilst you support Celtic, and while personally I can't understand it, at least you attend LOI games and understand the importance if that.

Same goes with the likes of Peadar and Stoke.

I agree but it's never going to change. It's engrained in the culture and one set of gob****es pass down their traditions to the next. It's just how folk are brought up, but it's up to good people like the folk on here to change attitudes, I just think people go the wrong way around it. This might sound dramatic but I think it should have been taken up at a political level like some sort of campaign to promote the league as a way of improving facilities and providing employment by supporting our own as well. That was obviously never gonna happen when good auld Bertie's office was a stone throw from Tolka and he never bothered his backside once to come along and support his local team.

Well he did manage to sponsor us the game before the local elections in 2009 on behalf of his brother. The bloody Bowez head on them.

Avatar technology to let sofa fans into theatre of dreams

"There's been a step change from standard definition to high definition in terms of how people consume football," Scudamore said.
    >.<

"There's 'immersion technology' being developed where you can sit down with headphones and a screen, and reproduce the feel of being in a stadium," he said.
    >.<

"You can call in your mates to sit next to you and chat to them. If you turn your head one way you're looking at the left-hand goal and the other way you're looking at the right-hand goal. That's in testing.
    >.<

    Jesus wept.

    Oh my.

Nine well-known public locations in County Longford have been cited on a website as potential sites for ‘dogging’, an activity where people engage in sex acts in their cars, while being watched by others.

The website, Swing4Ireland.com lists the locations giving specific directions, times, dates and instructions to those seeking to partake in this activity. Including the neighbouring counties of Leitrim, Westmeath, Cavan and Roscommon, the total number of locations cited rises to 84.

According to Swing4Ireland.com, the nine locations in Co Longford include the Townspark Industrial Estate, Athlone Road, Longford; Corn Hill, Drumlish; the Edgeworthstown Road, Granard; the Sports Complex, Granard; a location on the Killoe /Ballinalee Road; a location in Lanesboro, The Mall Sports Complex Longford; Lough Naback and a location in Tarmonbarry. While these locations are listed on the website, there is no evidence that any such activity takes place there. Swing4Ireland.com boasts 522 registered users from County Longford.

That would be no use to our barstoolers though. It implies they might want to head to a match on a barstool.

On a side note, that looks like a lot of fun.

I can't tell ya what a joy it was to watch Newcastle v Arsenal this evening. The quality of that just shows you that the Premier League is the only game in town. Especially if you've never watched a Bundesliga game or been to Drom.
