Quick question ... Do you think he would be capable of becoming a decent Premier division defender?

Jokeshop to see Stuey Byrne going on this, no way a foriegn club would sign him, over the hill and well past his best. He shoulda let one of the younger players go instead!

No. He is not good enough for any club except Mons*

*this is my desperate attempt to steer all other clubs away from him and leave him with no option but to sign for us. The truth is he would be a good lower to mid table Premier defender.

He's going on a coaching role apparently (and you're presuming there were others willing to do it)

If it was purely on the basis of "no way a foriegn club would sign him", there'd be about 2 in the squad

He is entitled to look for a club as just about anyone in the country.

Over the hill, he was one of the best midfielders in the league last season.

McGuinness needs to get off his high horse, just seen the full interview TV3 did with him yesterday and hes going on about no clubs here will offer full time contracts to any of "his" members. The truth of the matter is the clubs are offering contracts but alot of the players see themselves valued as twice what the contract is.

No surprise its Barrett, he was overweight, lazy and of no benefit.

He should go after Alan Carey though.

I see Liam Kearney has found a club.

Whats the problem? McGuinness is looking for the best deals for the players. Its not like he's organising a lock out. he's aying they should be getting more. Clubs disagree. Seems a normal negotiating tactic.

Alot of demands atm are similar to that of 3 or 4 years ago and no club can afford them. McGuinness has been hinting constantly that none of his memebrs should be offered contracts bleow what they have been getting previously.

    So? Thats his job.

its up to the clubs to stick to their budget.

Players will either accept the terms, or get nothing. its not McGuinness fault (or the players) if they want more

A Union head has a responsibility to get the best deal for him members - they pay his wages after all. However some realism needs to kick so that no player ends up going the legal route to get monies owed to them. In this case it could be put that a comparable wage rate be set for players, though then you'd still have envelopes passed to players from "sponsors" etc, clubs will do what they can to get what they want, even if it means the long term destruction of what they proclaim to protect.

He did absolutely nothing of any benefit, looked overweight and unfit.

Lost 2-1 to Finland first game. Sean Kelly penalty equalised for Ireland after Kavanagh was fouled.
