Granville-Croom 1A Cup Quarter-Final
Huge match tonight for us. Our entire season now comes down to 90 minutes. We are safe in the league and not going up, so failure against Croom would spell disaster. They still have an outside chance of promotion, but I am not so naive as to presume they won't come at us with all guns blazing. It has all the makings of a classic cup tie. We are on a pretty decent run since Christmas, with a 5-3 record. Still no draws this season remarkably. We are at full strength(almost) for the first time in months and so we will give it a massive effort. Hopefully we'll get through and keep our season alive and kicking for another few weeks yet. Anyone from around the division looking for a right good game drop by headquarters this evening. Should be a real humdinger. I'd take 5-4!!![]()
The Beautiful Game
Your dead right Zizou, should be a very good game... 1 all after full time, Granville to win on penalties.
Croom are a tough nut to crack in fairness to them, but as zizou said there season is on the line so should be a cracker, massive games in both the cup and league over the next week so it will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
I think if Croom have a full team they will shade it 2-1
Croom were the better team alright one wonders if they had that team out every week where they would be now in the league.
Pip Moloney and George Daffy stood out i wonder what teams they have left to play in the league.

That's true pal. But you could say that about a few teams. We were well in contention up to January then lost players to hurling etc. If Summerville beat Prospect this weekend they are up practically

All over as a contest at half time.Granville very dissapointing, where was the team that they put out against Wembley few weeks ago. They looked like they put out a minor team.Couldnt understand it, they must have had 8 or 9 subs togged out. Dont get me wrong croom were the stronger team by far, Pip up forward was a constant threat. Croom seemed to me to run out of steam in the last 20 mintues but the damage was already done. Conceeded a goal towards the end but was only a concellation for Granville. The better team went through to semi final and sets up a great encounter between wembley and themselves.
Granville 2-5 Croom
No excuses, no passing the buck, no taking it away from Croom. This scoreline tells the whole story. They were better than us in every department, first to every ball, winners of every second ball. It was men against boys. We were 2-0 down before we knew what hit us and 4-1 down at half time. P. Judge gave us our only 1st half boost with a goal which at the time actually gave us a brief glimpse of hope. It didn't last. D. Henehan(spellcheck?) scored a cracker late on for us to put a small bit more respectability on the scoredboard, but no denying a rampant Croom. They simply wanted it more on the night. Congratulations to them, and the very best of luck for the rest of the competition. I honestly think if they play like that they will win it out. The rebuilding towards next season starts now for Granville Rangers. We'll learn from this and come back better next season.
Our man of the match, no question, the excellent 17 year old: Cian Collins.
The Beautiful Game
Great result for croom who in fairness have been on a great run since the new year,if croom were to win their last 4 league games they would reach 47 points which would set a stiff target for the top 2,its most definetly no longer a 2 horse race for promotion.
