    Bundlesiga- Travel question

Someone was telling me that you can still travel free on trains in Germany if you have match tickets(scheme was in place during the WC).

We're off to Dortmund v Monchengladbach at the weekend but we'll be coming up from Cologne.

Anyone know if the scheme is still in place?

I think you can travel free on local S-bahn trains, but I'm not sure if Köln - Dortmund would exceed the limit (in terms of km), do you have the tickets already ? It will probably say what the terms and conditions of the free travel are - I can translate it if you want? Or if not there should be some sort of symbol of the free transport like a "DART" or "Tube" logo - for Stuttgart it's the VVS (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verkehr...bund_Stuttgart) which is the metro area of Stuttgart (would be like free trains, buses and DART within County Dublin for say a Shels match), this is the one for Dortmund Area (Rhein/Ruhr), maybe contact them and ask them to confirm it.

    Yup.

    Have the tickets.

I assume the section is "freie Hin-und Ruckfahrt am Veranstaltunstage mit all VRR Verkerhrsmittein"?

Yeah that just means "free transport to and from the 'event' with VRR transport modes"

Basically any S-Bahn, Bus, U-Bahn or Tram will be free in the VRR (Ruhr) area.

Köln is outside of the VRR zone

Get a day return ticket to Solingen and then from there the ticket will be free, use this site to plan:

    bahn.de

It's one change at Hagen, does anyone in your group speak German?
