I wouldn't be upset about any player going on to better things but the timing is unfortunate.

What I meant was 50K would more then pay the wages of any decent replacement for a whole season.

If Conor Powell is out of contract at Sligo he would probably cost even less then that. You could even swipe the next rising St Pats left back for buttons as well.

Didn't Enda Stevens go to a side in League One on trial earlier in the year and they weren't interested in making it a permanent transfer? Hard to stand in a players way

Stevens deal to Villa should be completed tomorrow. He will be loaned back until January, transfer fee won't be great up front but should have decent add ons.

Ok, Good news for Rovers that he will be loaned back, he would be missed in the run in. I had heard 300,000 euro transfer fee but that could be wrong.

Stevens isn't being loaned back. Rather, he's agreed to sign for Villa in January. He'll be a Rovers player until then. That's according to Dan McDonnell on Twitter anyway.

It could be complicated so ?? He can play until Jan with Rovers........Contract up....No cash for Rovers ?? Are Rovers drawing up new contracts as we speak ??

Could well be the case. Probably less hassle to sign a pre-contract than to sign him and loan him back.

We had a similar deal with wolves on Aaron McCarey. He,trained with them during the week towards the end of our season and came home for games. Then moved over at end of season but only signed pro forms that January when he turned 18.

And Jim Paterson (ex Dundee Utd/Motherwell). Also Kevin Long tweeted that he was on the way to Rovers to play European football. He's on loan at Accrington at the moment, so not sure if it's realistic, he did say he was getting on a flight not long after, although it looked like he was having a joke with Padraig Amond initially.

Just had a look at Rickett's wiki. Some fall through the leagues there. From a semi regular with Spurs through MLS and Moldova to the German regional leagues
