Waterford United missed the chance to draw level on points with leaders Shelbourne after being held to a draw in United Park on Friday night, but they could have left empty-handed were it not for two exceptional late saves by goalkeeper Dan Connor.
The former Irish under-21 shotstopper was become one of the top keepers in the league since returning to Suirside from Peterborough, and he underlined his ability to shut out the Drogs.
