But surely that's the process that this thread is part of - seeing what fans want?

I think there is certainly potential that a new design will tap into a wider market than another red and black stripe jersey. Why would a semi interested person bother to buy another variation of a top they already have? It'd be interesting to know what the breakdown of away kits v home kits sold particularly when we've made significant changes to the away kit (as the home kit has remained red and black stripes).

Surely thats the whole point of selling replica jersies to make money?! As far as I can see, judged solely on seeing people at matches etc, there wasnt a great deal of new jersies bought this year. Surely if a new design could sell a few more jersies and bring more money into the club, then great

You missed the point there. Changing the strip to sell marginally more jerseys is a silly reason.

but not many people around buy jersey because they are all the exact same, think that is the point of something different, everybody around has a town jersey of some description and me personally think a new design would sell well, which as cabs pointed out is the whole reason of selling replica jerseys!

Ok let's look at it this way for a minute then what if the strip is changed and it sells very well this season what happens the year or 2 after when "everybody has one" do we changed again and again and again? Surley some sort of tradition has to be kept.

It's completely different with an away kit you can do what ya like with that so that's why I think we should bring in a new away jersey like the city ones above that will be new and fresh looking that people will want to buy because trust me if your club has a nice away kit youl end up buying it with the home strip aswell , btw has anybody made any new models since? the ones ye were coming up with were great I'd love to see some more,

The stripes have become part of that tradition IMO .

We got the black and red stripes from Bohs in 1924.

You're missing the point! Say we are selling x amount of replica jerseys. We change the strip and we are now selling x + 15% jerseys. Do you think that changing the strip is worth that extra 15% revenue? We're selling nothing as it is, so we won't be signing any Rooneys or Tevezs from the all money we make. Its simply not worth it.

I'll make some more templates outspoken.

Yes, we do change it again - it's what clubs do all over the world! The tradition being kept is Red and Black as club colours.

I was looking at Serie A over the weekend and think that Parma's white kit with the black cross might make a decent away jersey. As for the Black & Red stripes its only a jersey change for a year or 2 at most and the clubs colours remain Red & Black and I think the club has bigger issues in attracting crowds to Flancare than worrying about which jersey design we use.

Not really. The stripes are there. Its a variation on the design of the stripes.

You wanted a new strip. Here is one. With the stripes. Not one that Rosanna Davidson would be happy to wear.

Thing with stripes, generally don't mind the broken stripes so much. it's when they have a plain back instead of stripes that'd annoy me. Stoke City's new kit for example...

That red shirt with the black pinstrip is similar to what we wore when we were sponsored by Fourways Oil.
BTW that shirt above looks the part, L.T.F.C.

We had a similar away kit years ago when we were with Umbro. White body with sky blue diagonal line. Must look for a pic of it. would have been a long time bck though cos its years since we were with Umbro...could have been around 1995

this is the case with clubs in europe aswell, so the players numbers are clearly visable, it doesnt look nice at all!

I like the idea of retaining the stripes theme, but I am in no ways married to it. As has been said, not every kit we've ever had has been striped in the past. I remember the kit from the mid 90s with the black cuffs for example.

Changing the look is a tiny part of the process - simply, a new kit will initially appeal only to those who would buy it anyway. Carefully-planned marketing and some sort of kit launch might help increase interest. That, to me, is more important than just a new design.
