Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
Every single town fan I have talked to has agreed 110% that red and black stripes is the only way to go it's the tradition and that's also what I believe with all my heart.
As for the comment made above about missing out on revenue it wouldn't make the slighest bit of differnce if we wore cowboy costumes as there is simply no support for the town and a nice new jersey won't fix that results on the pitch will decide attendances
But I wouldn't mind a switch away from the blue and gold as it's not really traditional and as said many times above the link between county and town has gone.

All opinions are valid including those who are against any change at all. I will say though that i talked to about 30 people at the game Friday night and asked what they thought about a possible change. I only met one person who said that we had to stick with the red & black stripes. I mustn't have met any of the 'every single town fan' that you know..![]()
Well il give you the exact statiscs I spoke to 8 diffrent town fans on Friday night and they all said there's no way a change should take place but of course everybodys opinion Is valid and after that's what this thread is all about.

I appreciate that Kieran, and that's the reason i've put the question out there. Everyone has an opinion on it and i'm more than willing to listen to each and every one of them. I'm in the fortunate position now after being an ordinary fan for up on twenty years now (and please dont think that i have an opinion of myself here now that im no longer an ordinary fan), but i'll say that hopefully now i can try and do things that might make a few quid for the club so i'm just looking at options.
If it's not the general consensus to change then we wont change and i'll go with the flow, but what im getting is that most people would prefer a change. No offence LTFC but that's what i'm getting from the people that are going to town games today, history respected and all...
Tradition's fine but even the oldest clubs have changed their colours at some point. For example, Liverpool only went all red in the 50's, Arsenal went to white sleeves in the 30's.
Marty's right on this. Red with black trimming, and Pat the Baker sponsoring.
'Fascists dress in black and go round telling people what to do, where as priests.....'
I have to agree with LTFC I certaintely won't be buying a town jersey that isn't red and black stripes if we take away those colours and stripes we are taking away a large part of our identity. Can you imagine shamrock rovers saying were no longer the hoops were the stripes it will never ever ever happen. And if we do change the jersey who's to say people won't get sick of that one after a while and wel end up switching again , if somebody asked me what's the club colours I'd have to say ehhh well were not really sure were waiting to see what's the flavour of the month so to speak. I'm sorry to keep raveling on but I feel very very strong on this matter

I for one am all for change on the away kit but as for the home kit I think we should stick to red and black stripes and maybe adjust them a bit, it just doesnt appeal to me to change at this stage, I dont think it would sell more or less jersies. Lets be honest the ones that go everyweek are die hard fans and will buy the new jersey regardless, out of all the templates above the jersey that appealed most was the red with black pinstripes, its different but doesn't fully take away from the red and black stripes. Its all opinion anyway.
If god wanted us to play football in the clouds he would have put grass up there!
I agree with Marty on this one. As pointed out by me earlier in this post and by Pauro the Town had red jersey with a black trim on the arms around the 94 season with Pat the Baker sponsoring them. And I have to also say I'd be all go for a change in design. Change is good!! LTFC are you this Kieran fool we had on here a while ago because the tripe your talking you sound very like him.
Look Town Legend, it is quite simple. Longford Town FC's colours are red and black. And the design is stripes using the aforementioned colours. If you think changing the strip to get a very small jump in revenue, the brown wire is in where the blue wire should be. Its a stupid reason to change the strip.
You may think it is tripe, and you are entitled to that opinion. In this world of Hannah Montana, High School Musical and Justin Bieber, someone has to be realistic. You think it is nonsense and that is grand, but when you listen to the shíte in the stand week in, week, it is nothing but sickening.
For example, Cowan gave away the ball in the next phase of play after he set up the goal, brilliantly might I add, and the slating he got was dire. If you call that supporting your team, you're mental.
And to clarify, Kieran is 'outspoken'.

red and black are our colours, no one has said they want this to change (i dont thnk), and rightly so, these colours should always be kept, its the stripes that has not always been around, was there not a predominatly red jersey a few years ago? nearlly 100% on this, think there is still one kickin around at home! dont think it was the first time we didnt have red and black stripes either. to say you wont be buying a town jersey because it is not striped is a bit silly, again we could go all day with the "well most people i have talked to think its a good idea/ bad idea" stuff, but lets be honest, until it is tried we wont know, will we!
its a great idea that has been at work here, getting input from the supporters. i have said where i think it should go, something different, a change for another chapter for the clubs history! change is good! make us stand out, make the new jersey be a talking point again, remember when we first moved to umbro a few years ago, the interest in the jersey at that time was big around the town!

It is not a bit silly. I think it should be stripes. It was stripes when it started and I don't think it should have been changed or should it be changed now. Making a small amount money is a pathetic reason to change the strip, and I for one won't be buying it.
If interest was so big for when Umbro can to town, get Nike or Adidas to do it.

I wasn't aware there was some moral obligation to buy the kit. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If a new design increases sales overall, that's a positive thing.
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
Well all I'm saying is I honestely don't think it matters what way the kit is designed because we simply don't have the supporters to buy it whereas if we can just find someway of keeping the red and black stripes while making the jersey new and attractive at least the supporters we do have will buy it.
