What a game between Rovers and Pats, could so easily have been 3-1 Rovers had the ref not been a kung fu fanatic. Mons and Derry to go up, then at least Dundalk will have a local derby with Drogs dropping.

Heard Shams banned the NEVER RELEGATED banner again and had the Garda not allow it in past the turnstyles, plus told the Garda to remove other banners from the St Pats section too! Sad bunch of *******

yeah thats true, was waiting outside and there was an argument over it. pretty disgusting, rovers get any display they want and they ban opposition fans.

bravo to rovers for not kicking the ball to the opposition team what a shower a fooking scum they really are......from fans to players really are scum

The official excuse from the club is that they told the Garda the NEVER RELEGATED banner is "offensive" and could "cause trouble among supporters"

Dundalk FC work very hard to continue in existence as a club. Every penny is important and every point can make the difference between premier division football and the barren wasteland of the first division and dwindling revenue.

It's been done to death before (search the UCD forum for examples), but basically - yes, the club is self-financing bar a small (I understand less than 10% of the overall budget) bursary from the Sports Grant, which comes from registration fees, not from the taxpayer. Events like the Superleague, the golf classic and the club dinner take a fair bit of time to arrange. Add in gate receipts, sponsorship and the likes, and a rather small budget, and this notion of "We're a proper club with proper pressures unlike UCD" is just nonsense.

I watched back the win again this morning, we deserved a win and nothing less, probably the best performance ive seen us ever put in considering the context and one of the best ive ever seen in the LOI, total football.

Just like to add my congrats to Sligo on a well deserved win on friday night ! cant remember the last time an away team was applauded off at Dalymount - and that after beating us in a cup semi final.
Great display on a very good night for LOI. Looked a decent crowd, decent atmosphere and a cracking game of football (and little wrong by ref Kelly).

Apart from the result

Friday night was what keeps me going to LOI matches (well that and the medication

). Best of luck to Sligo in the final I suspect they may have a few well wishers from Dalymount irrespective of who wins the other semi.

Last years collapsing of clubs off the field replaced by this years collapsing of shams on the field.

I prefer this year.

It wasn't intended as patronising. I don't go in for the "UCD AFC is not a proper club" mantra.

You started a comparison between the ways Russell and Foster conduct themselves. It could be that Foster is just a moany git. However, I was trying to question whether there are other factors involved.
