I'm glad someone else notices these things!
I remember watching the away game vs Cyprus on the way to the 2002 World Cup and Breen and Keane were having a right debate coming off at half time. Gary was saying something like 'We're two up' and Keane replied 'That's not the point'. It was unmistakable.
No I remember it too, and breen looked like pinky coming off the pitch, and the lost little puppy eyes on him and the big ears like pinky too. I still think though keane would have admired breens committment and desire.

I think I am looking at different games, because I see none of this alleged football, or beautiful deck passing from our two centre halves. Very rarely. , but Richard Dunne's passes of choice were to JOSH or Ledger. Ledger or Killer then normally launched up to the centre forward.
Now that can also be attributed to the centre midfield players not showing for the ball, but up to now I'm not sure that's the case as one of the criticism's of Glenn Whelan is that his link up play has solely been horizontal or backwards. [Personally I don't think that criticism is valid as he has generally kept the play moving, often as the outman for his centre halves and full backs].
The question really is whether Friday was a once off, or are we really goosed in the centre of the pitch? Glenn Whelan deserves the benefit of the doubt I reckon, as he has been very good and totally underrated during Trap's term. It was noticeable that we lost control of the game in Paris after himself and Josh went off I feel.
Paul Green doesn't deserve the vilification that he is getting, but there is no denying that he's out of his depth either. I'm glad others picked up on his breaking of the line (or the Whelan Triangle as someone else mentioned).

agree regarding Whelan. I was unsure when Trap called him up but he has performed admirably for us since and has turned my opinion of him at least. He was atrocious on Friday though.
re Green. He deserves criticism for his ability and performance on Friday but he just should not be in that team. Its as simple as that. Trappatoni picking him is the problem.
General point: people have said that Ward and McCarthy are inexperienced and would make a lot of mistakes or that their improvement to the team would be marginal. My counterpoint would be that it would be better to have two young lads in there making those mistakes and learning from them for the future than to have two guys (in Kilbane and Green) that are not the future of this team yet are making extremely costly mistakes game on game.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
A lot of people unfairly dismissed Andrews and Whelan the same way they are Green, but I think he is noticeably of a lesser standard than our first-choice pair. I think he copped a lot of unfair flak for the Russia game but that shouldn't mask his deficiencies. At the same time, the result against Armenia is looking extremely good now and he played an important part in that.
And please write an apology to the foot.ie followers for again boldly beleiving we would win last night![]()

Quiet you! I'm slowly learning what the regular club going folk who support their local team feel like, having their optimism slowly but surely eroded away, to be only left with cynicism, sarcasm and contempt. Or something

Marc Wilson would also be a much more experienced player in middle of park than Paul Green
I feel sorry for Green cos he seems likeable in interviews and is not lacking in effort at all and indeed is a good ball winner.
Just can't pass 5 yards to his own man
Folding my way into the big money!!!

Rowlands has played a few mins for QPRs reserves in the last few weeks, he might have made the team this weekend but he "tweaked" his hamstring and so they're not risking him. I would say he should be back by November.

Rowlands has been on the bench four times for QPR this season: http://irish-abroad.appspot.com/Play...6&seasonID=140
