They (the media) couldn't get rid of Biffo when he was tired and spoofing, or shaft Lenihan because it's not nice to kick a former sick man when he's bringing the country down. So it's starting again, no doubt at FF's behest - Bruton is to go for Kenny's spot again. Now, it may be just me, but is there ever a worse time to split a party or take over a bankrupt (ott and not quite true of course) state? It's back to the Yes Minister bit - Bruton can't say he's not doing anything or that he's not interested, because then he's weak and out of the game for good. However if he says he's interested then it's game on and FG will fall further behind Labour, FF win the day and we continue on as we are.

Ireland has become ever bit a joke as the UK was under Labour. Next they'll find weapons of mass disruption in the coak shed out the back of John Gormley's house!

I wouldn't be so sure the media is behind it. If I was in FG I'd still want Inda gone...

It's a bit of both, I'd suspect FF are behind it - destabilise the opposition, get them fighting among themselves and hang on in there to grab as much loot as possible before the next election when they sneak back into power. It's just too coincidental.

There is an element of the Sindo wanting Kenny and Cowen out at all costs, but FG do realise that every week under Kenny is worth an extra 1% to Labour, so you can't blame them for thinking another coup's needed. That said, I'd have thought Bruton's credibility was gone after June's fiasco, that Hayes or Varadkar would have been best placed to make the next move.

The numbers don't lie for Kenny, although how much is a self fullfilling prophecy from the media who don't like Kenny I don't know. I wouldn't rule out it being an FF tactic though - wait for another FG leadership heave, and then call an election.
