Big win for St. Michael's yesterday, they will give this competition a real go. Was it as easy for them as the scoreline suggests?

6 nil was very harsh on avenue alright first. they conceded a penalty in the first minute in fairness it was a certain peno, and then their goalie received a backpass from a team mate and passes it straight to the st michaels forward for 2nil and game effectively over. having said all that st michaels were excellent and would have still won the game but i think the scoreline will be closer should they meet again in fai.

yeah, that about sums up game - Heard that Avenue were quite handy before game so none of us expected Saints to win by 6 goals. Teams from Mayo tend to be very tough and physical so I couldn't see them beat Ballina to be honest. A sound bunch of lads, came back to pub for food & a pint afterwards and mixed well.

Simply because they are a good side who I thought would run Micheal's close.
I guess we in Clare have along way to go to compete with the big boys.

I wouldn't say that. As stated St.Michaels had dream start - a penalty after 30 seconds and ten minutes later an unfortunate miskick from the keeper presented number 2. Avenue dominated for the next 30 minutes and had they pulled one back it would have been different. The killer was number 3 just before the break. If Avenue get through in the F.A.I. I'm sure they will be well prepared. Having said that St.Michaels are an excellent team and are around long enough to be ready for a battle against whoever comes through. Avenue were a credit to the Clare League, very sporting on the field and certainly excellent company after the game.

The 2 goals early on killed us,and in the manner we conceded them in. We felt confident going into but The bottom line is we were just not good enough.their a class side. I have never been on the receiving end of a score line like that. It hurts real bad because we are a much better side than the what the score showed. Hopefully we can get another crack at them again. But like I said they are a class side.

Kinsale at 16-1 represent great value, unbeaten so far this season and very experienced, and a home draw in next round, they should give Carrick a good game.

Pike Rvs 4 Rock Rvs 2

A Game were Pike should have strolled through but to their credit Rock never gave up and the man of the match was an ex-Pike player Darryl Eade who was a constant thorn down the right wing and also doing a great job keeping both Eoin Hanrahan and Pat Moloney quiet for most of the game. Pike scored the first goal from a fantastic strike from Edward O'Donovan and not long after were two nil up thanks to Alan Barry. After this Pike dropped the tempo and left Rock back into it and sloppy passing from Pike led to Rock getting a cornor and from the resulting cornor the ball was floating around and the Rock player finished it. Second half was all Pike who were in Rocks half for 30 minutes but wasting countless opportunities. With fifteen minutes left a mistake in defence led to a Rock player scoring leaving Gary Neville no chance. First half of extra time was all Pike and the pressure eventually paid off when Eoin Hanrahan attack down the left wing and broke into the box and was taken down in the box and the Rock player was going for a early shower. Wayne O'Donovan calmly stepped up and buried it in the bottom cornor. A few minutes and another Pike attack led to another Pike goal this time from Wayne Colbert. The second half of extra time was much of the same. Pike now advance and play Wilton Utd “B” or Park Utd or Lisselton Rvs or St Brendan’s Park .

    Pike team:
    Gary Neville,
Michael Aherne, Pat Mullins, Wayne Colbert(1), Edward O'Donovan(1),
David Ryan, Keith Harnett, David O'Grady, Eoin Hanrahan,
    Alan Barry(1), Pat Moloney
Subs: Wayne O' Donovan(1) for Ryan, Brian Cleary for O'Grady, Enright(unused)
