also would just like to say well done to declan casey who commentated on the radio for todays game.he gave a very fair observation of the game and was close to tears at the end. in fairness he put alot of work in over the years getting pike where they are and deserves as much credit as everybody else involved.fair play declan.

my guess would be 2500-2750 hard to judge it. The main stand was full with slight overspill of about 100 in either end behind goal. good atmosphere with everyone in the one stand.
poor game neither team were at there best im sure pike wont care though now they have there hands on the cup. colbert was massive loss in mjc semi he really kept jimmy carr quiet today. davey ryan played very well when he camo on 2nd half for pike
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

Great crowd down there today and a great atmosphere. A draw would've been fair, Michael's probably shaded it but neither team played to their potential. Mick's were really looking likely to score the game's third goal during a 20 minute spell in the second half but it didn't happen. Saying that Breen cleared off the line twice for Michael's near the end of the first half. Best for Pike were Colbert, Mullins and Enright. Mullins did brilliant to win the ball back and drive on to win the free that won the FAI for Pike, to be fair Hartnett struck it well but...

    Cool

great result for pike and for limerick, deserving winners on the day ,not the greatest match but wont worry about that, thought enright had a stormer, poor error by micheals keeper for the goal but only fitting that hartnett as pike captain should score.brilliant support from limerick at the game.

Congrats to all the Pike people, there are many people to have been involved behind the scenes over the past few years that have helped them to this success. Well done to all.
To the management and squad, fantastic achievement and a rich reward for all the hardwork ye have put in.

Finals are rarely a footballing spectacle bud no matter what level they are played at.im sure both sides were very cagey and nervous today in what would of been a massive game infront of a huge crowd in junior soccer terms.pike won the trophy for 2011 and they deserve it no matter what way they went about winning it.
the lads have a winners medal in there pocket.i think your post is very angry/bitter to be honest

Look at the end of the day the pike lads have a medal yes and credit to them, they had the tag of red hot favourites all year which must have been a weight and the fai was not just won today but in places and on days such as athenry etc where they showed how to battle. The game itself was not a spectacle. Pike had by far the better of the first
half and should have been ahead at half time. Pa Moloney was a huge loss to pike at half time. Michaels totally dominated the second half upto the last 3 minutes. Michaels had a glorious chance at the start of the second half to go ahead but did not take it and were made to rue the chance missed. Both pike goals were terrible mistakes by the keeper and not to be taking away from the shot for the last goal the keeper watched it all the way and left it squirm under him. He had got away with one just before this also. All in all and on the balance of balls cleared off the line and half chances created pike probably shaded it. Moloney was best player on show until forced off I thought. Well done to pike it's been a long hard year for them bu worth it all.

Congrats to Pike. Great to see the trophy coming back to Limerick. Overall it was a poor game. Fair result would've been extra time & penalties. Man of the match should have gone to Enright.

Firstly, congratulations to Pike Rovers on their win. In my opinion they just about deserved it. For the neutral it was a terrible game. Pike dominated the first half opening the scoring on 20 minutes through Alan Barry availing of a goalkeeping error. they should have gone further ahead but St.Michaels cleared several off the line. Then saints scored the best goal of the game from a well rehearsed corner to leave it 1-1 at the break. St.Michaels had their best chance early in the second half and should have scored. The game then deteriorated badly. Five minutes from the end a free-kick from well outside the box was allowed squirm under the body of the saints keeper. The attendance was just over 2,000 with support for each team about 50-50 - hard to say as everybody wore green and white. Pike captain keith Hartnett got man of the match - would not have been my choice - perhaps enright or Colbert - but certainly not Hartnett.
