Don't know about anyone else, disappointed Roy is out, but I'm thrilled to bits for all the journos' who went to Poland just cause keane was turning up. Heard about one from a London paper who went London-Dublin-London-Frankfurt-Warsaw, and than a 3-hour Bus Journey. Sent by his paper just cause Roy was back. Good enough..
Well, if it ensures our game gets a decent bit of coverage in the London press - for once - then I'm all for it.Originally Posted by PaulB

I for one am one of the biggest anti keanos around but he is back so lets get on with it. This seemed a genuine injury and you can see from saturday he looked far from fully fit. If the fans are bickering like we are why do we expect any more from the players ? Its time for the fans and players to be playing as one and create the atmosphere we need not sniping at each other.
Just support the team, this is getting very tiresome and quite frankly boring. Theres greater and better things to worry about.
All I said was I wasn't surprised. Same way it doesn't surprise me when Giggs pulls out of a Wales friendly etcOriginally Posted by RedX

Keane disappointed
27 April 2004
Roy Keane may have pulled out of the squad through injury, but the subject is still dominating conversations and manager Brian Kerr insisted that, injury permitting, he will be involved in the forthcoming summer friendlies.
Keane picked up a hamstring strain while playing for Manchester United against Liverpool on Saturday, but still reported for duty and took part in a light training session on Monday morning in Dublin.
However, following the session, Keane withdrew from the squad and returned to Manchester.
Kerr said: “He genuinely was very disappointed not to be coming. There was no reason to it other than the hamstring.
“I don’t know was there any suggestion of anything else. Maybe the lateness of it may have led to some suggestions, but I can assure you that it was nothing other than the hamstring.
“His withdrawal was just like Mattie Holland’s and David Connolly’s. Both game in, the medical team looked at them and felt they wouldn’t be in the right way to play in the match.
“Roy came in and although he trained, he wasn’t right.”
And Kerr insisted that Keane will, injury permitting, be involved in the forthcoming friendies against Romania at Lansdowne Road and Holland in Amsterdam.
“He can’t expect to be in the team for the first game in the World Cup, irrespective of who the player is. If any other player was out of the team with a long-term injury you couldn’t expect them to come straight back in.”

yeah but he was excellent against arsenal in the Cup semi final against viera who we are facing in octobers, he is like most players now where he has some bad games and some really good ones, Whereas before he had 99% good games. Just not as consistant as he was but still better than anything we have in central midfield and same age as mc ateer and cunningham or maybe even younger then him
