City and Dolan..

Dave Barry, Liam Murphy, John Caulfield etc etc. We've finally cleansed the club of the whole lot of those chancers the last thing we need is to start bring them back. they were great servants in their day but this club went very stale because none of them knew when to leave. Great servants they were, but don't bring them back. If I was to point out anyone as a future citymanger, it would be Kerley from Limerick in a few years

I unlike yourself do not agree in tarring everyone with the same brush, Murphy and Barry have already managed City and I don't believe in bringing them back as they've had their turn and thanks to them.

Caulfield is a different story, if he can do a job down the line then it'll be with a clean slate and not embittered with past memories people can't shake off.

Exactly, they did good things for the club but they've had their time. This is the Dolan era now, an era of professionalism and what will turn out to be an era of great success if people are patient.

I agree with you, but what I'm getting at is that "if he can do a job" is a very big "if"! The guy has no experience of professional football at any level, and IMO would be a fish out of water.

I have to agree that it would not be in Cork Citys best interest to have any of the above ex-players back to manage anymore..to much of the old crew and the club would probably go downhill...i am not saying Dolan will be leaving anytime soon but do any of you actually think that assistant boss Noel O Connor would get the job if Dolan moved upstairs..he is a good coach and knows the players well..he would have his own ideas also..he did a great job with Limerick and probably was the one that brought in most of the players Kerley had last season..still though Kerley will do well sometime down the line in management..thats if he doesent retire after all the rubbish he has been through with Limerick...

This is the Dolan era now, an era of professionalism and what will turn out to be an era of great success if people are patient.

IMHO Dolan has much to prove and this is the season that he has to do it. He has all the resources that he can expect at City at this point in time and he has to show that he can manage footbal as well as he can talk football. While not in the 'Dolan Out' camp I'm a long way from falling on my knees and worshiping him either...

Sorry, Iwas trying to be nice and avoid using words like "wasters" "backstabbers" etc., but lets not have this debate again Peadar.

While not in the 'Dolan Out' camp I'm a long way from falling on my knees and worshiping him either...

Hmm. I have followed City only for the last three seasons, so what I have to say is through the eyes of a newcomer, for what it is worth.
1. Dolan does appear to have a solid business plan for the club, and by allaccounts he is putting his money where his mouth is by investing his own private stash in CCFC.
2. His brashness on the sideline and in the media are a breath of fresh air, even though he looks a bit childish at times, making pointless protests at the ref and linesmen, and that time he nearly throttled Denis Behan.
3. Bad luck affects any team's performance, as does good luck, but he has made his own bad luck by causing (or allowing?) crazy things to happen. For example, Georgie is an excellent finisher, but he seems not to know what to do in midfield when he gets the ball. Apart from creating a bit of space for himself, he is a lousy play maker when he gets free possession. Another example, what was Georgie doing taking a free kick 5 yards outside the box on the right wing at the St. Annes end against Drogheda? He was the only person with the stature and the skill to pick up a high cross, so he should have been in the box receiving.
4. Why, after a whole game doing it two weeks ago, does Dolan allow Devine to hoof his kick outs into space, where City lose 75% of the time to the opposition?
5. Why did he allow Fenn stay on after the 55th minute, when he was a spent force, and looked bored?
6. Why did he take off Nwankwo??????? Player of the game in my view.
7. Playing with the ball in the shed during one of City's best moves was an embarrassing sight. Can Dolan's suport be that real???
