I'm sure it is the award that a manager would take most pride in, being voted first by people that actually know about the game.
I see Danny Wilson is the only non-PL manager to have won it, or at least to win it for a season outside of the PL.

Danny Wilson! Made a pig's ear out of managing Wednesday but then who hasn't (Big Jack, Big Ron and Howard Wilkinson aside). Shows Ferguson is not particularly popular among his fellow managers and by and large the award seems to go to those who did well with a so-called lesser club.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
I would dread to hear the day when an RTE Sports Report began with "Roy Keane's Sheffield Wednesday...."

Gary Megson would destroy Wednesday.
Dog **** football guaranteed.
[QUOTE=OwlsFan;1447799]Interesting that Moyes has won it more often than even Ferguson.

Only one Irishman there: Joe Kinnear. Now there's a candidate, dicky heart aside.
[B]Hodgson isn't a bad manager. His few months in Liverpool weren't anything to write home about but considering the detrius he left by Rafa
So what sort of manager is Kenny considering all this.........a King or a man with a magic wand that Hodgson said there wasn't? LOL

Lets talk about six baby
Just asking Owlsfan a question never said anything about getting carried away! Kenny has said since the start one game at a time and that we won't win all our games obviously but we will try. I agree with him totally as what's the point in getting carried away and saying for example we will go unbeaten this month when there's a chance we won't! Anyway going off topic now.

I get the feeling if Kenny said his sh!t smells like daffodils you'd agree fully as well. Definitely going off topic now ha!
I'll try to redeem myself a bit. Heading over to Derby in a couple of weeks, going to their home game against Barnsley. Things are very rocky over there at the minute I hear, I think the fans are having some protest before their match against Leicester at the weekend. They don't seem to be happy at all with their American owners, who don't seem to have any interest in giving the club money to progress, a situation you'll be familiar with Rafa. They had their lowest attendence of the season on Saturday, just over 23,000, which is very poor by their exceptional standards. Suppose it doesn't help that their main rivals, Forest, are on such an upward spiral and even Leicester are experiencing more exciting times under Sven.

Sometimes you wonder why you're interested in this game. Sitting snugly in front of Soccer Saturday with Jeff Stelling and his panel of Alcos. Your eye watches the video printer. Big match today. The proverbial 6 pointer against local rivals, Huddersfield. Step out to put on some toast. 0-2 down when I arrive back. Ah well, that's that then. But suddenly 1-2 and then 2-2 at half time. No more channel surfing for me. This is going to be a tense 45 minutes. Ignoring "Unbelievable Jeff" Kamara and Phil Thompson almost having apoplexy in excitement everytime the ball goes near the goal in Bolton vs Fulham, screams of "Chance!!" from Charlie Nicholas, my eyes are glued to the scores coming in. Twice more Jeff Stelling brings us to Hillsboro. Wednesday now 4-2 up. "Unbelievable Jeff!!" that's what I say. 10 minutes to go and of course another visit to Sheffield and it's now 4-3. I start to eat my thumb nail. No more visits, no more visits please!! The final scores start to come in. The Blades win. Stelling says it's a great day for the Sheffield clubs. Is the other game over? Still no sign as I watch the scores coming in. They're nearly all in now but the Wednesday result remains in blue on the scorecard. 6 minutes overtime now surely it must be over. Jeff Stelling screams as only they can scream on Sky: "THERE'S BEEN ANOTHER GOAL AT HILLSBORO!! BUT WHICH WAY HAS IT GONE??". My heart sinks. The reporter relays the news as one can hear the referee blow the final whistle in the back ground. The 7th minute of injury time. 4-4.
Is there a worse feeling in the world than your team conceding a last minute goal? The result hangs like a cloud over my head for the whole weekend.
Sigh. What torture will the rest of the season and Euro 12 bring? Who cares? Bring it on...

all on tv.....nah not really![]()
It's actually worse of tv because you don't know what happening. At least at the game you can see whether you're on attack or defending. On tv you're totally in the hands of the Sky commentating team - in the dark until there is news but is that news favourable or not?![]()

An epic match where your team were 2-0 and didn't lose though, look on the bright side. It just had to be 4-4 as well because there was no way Jeff was getting that excited about a 5-3 insurance goal, I'd say he does know which way it's gone!
Walsall 0 Wednesday 1 in the 91st minute. Walsall win the game 2-1. It could only happen to Wednesday.![]()
