    NPower League

Had the pleasure of being with 4083 other hardy souls in England's northeast on Saturday as I watched Wednesday score 5 for the first time in my life as they beat Hartlepool. I suppose you could say Owls spanked the Monkeys . Lovely 5th goal by Clinton Morrison who only came on as a sub. Nice compact ground. Result left Wednesday top of the league. Last time I saw that was when they were in the Premiership and they lead the way after 4 games under Pleat, Just avoided relegation though at the end of that season. I didn't see it, but I believe Jeff Stelling didn't take the result too well on Sky:

Ipswich going well in the Championship. Be prepared for the media frenzy here if it continues. Leeds also getting back to where they belong (for the moment).

I've been following Gillingham myself for a good few years now, ever since 2 of their players were on loan with Longford a few years back. Want to see Colchester do well as Dave Mooney is now playing with them, and he was a hero in Town colours. I've backed John O'Flynn for top scorer in League 1 as well so will be shouting him on for the season. Would like to see Ipswich go up, just to see Roy back in the Premiership.

Gillingham - reminds me of the days of Damien Richardson.

Pardew had to leave West Ham after a difficult relatonship with some players, especially Carl Fletcher. I wonder if something similar has happened in this case.

Alan Pardew was involved in a touch up with Fletcher's wife.

Whatever happens, all is not well at NFFC.

Just wondering if anyone here has heard anything re an Irish consortium/possible investment or take-over?
Haven't heard anything but these sort of rumours often have no basis. There was a rumour of a Wednesday take over for the best part of a year and it came to....nought.

I've not heard anything solid regarding Forest and an Irish consortium.

I think Doughty and MO'N (plus families) were spotted having a meal together and somebody put 2 and 2 together about MO'N replacing Davies. It got the fans a bit excited but Doughty and MO'N go way back apparently and are good friends.

I can see why Davies is annoyed. He needed to build on last seasons successful league campaign by buying a few players to help bulk up the squad but the acquisition panel take about 3 months to decide on something resulting in Billy boy getting frustrated and running to the local rag moaning about the lack of progress.

Exeter's first away win in yonks. Wierdly I had a dream last night about attending a game there and I was put in a seat where I couldn't see the pitch but it was for blind people! Bet not many people dream about going to see Exeter play

Owls lose at home to Carlisle. Normal service resumes.

Leeds lose again -mad that I think Shane Higgs going off injured and Alex Bruce getting himself suspended is probably going to turn out to be a good thing yet here we are.

Tony Mowbray replaces Strachan as the manager at Celtic and makes a pig's ear of it.

Tony Mowbray replaces Strachan as the manager at Middlesboro with some of the Celtic players who failed him.

I just love the managers' merry go round.

Darren Ferguson sacked by Preston. Alex Ferguson takes back the 3 Man U players the club had on loan at Preston. Hardly a football decision and I'd say the players are none too pleased.

Norwich and Leeds the surprise packages of what looks a weak Championship this season, having just come up from Division One.

Tony Pulis (another fully paid up member of the Fergie Fan Club, see also Allardyce) has now demanded the re-call of his two loan players, Danny Pugh and Michael Tonge, from Preston back to Stoke. Obviously for footballing reasons, and nothing to do with his friendship with Baconface.

Wednesday sack their Manager, Irvine. I suppose when you're leading three times against Peterborough and lose 5-3, it had to happen.

Hmmm, please God not Roy Keane. Roy Hodgson or Sam Allardyce would do or will it be someone who has been on the threadmill for a while like Ian Dowie.

Roy Hodgson is your man! The LMA manager of the year, can handle the media, will steady the ship and English into the bargain. Come on you know you want him!

Think Hodgson and Big Sam are probably a bit out of Wednesday's league OwlsFan, but stranger things have happened.

Interesting that Moyes has won it more often than even Ferguson.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LMA_Manager_of_the_Year

Only one Irishman there: Joe Kinnear. Now there's a candidate, dicky heart aside.

Hodgson isn't a bad manager. His few months in Liverpool weren't anything to write home about but considering the detrius he left by Rafa and his previous career, I'd take him.
