From a Roscommon point of view Shiven, Ballinasloe and Kilkerrin advanced, have any of these teams a serious shout at it this year???

if thats Citys attitude to a 3rd division team then good enough for them!!!

Shiven and Ballinasloe may go well but Kilkerrin would be the weaker of the 3.They can be hard to beat at home. Strugglin in the Premier this year.

I had tipped City to do well in this years cup, but they fell at the first hurdle. My other tips from Sligo/Leitrim are Carbury, they've a tricky away tie to Aughanagh on the 9th Jan, both teams will be rusty after weeks of inactivity. Boyle have gone right off the boil(apologies!!) of late and are at home to NUI from the Galway Premier. Manor are away to Moore Utd, Manor will have the advantage of playing a FAI Junior Cup game on the 2nd. To be honest I'd be surprised to see my 3 remaining tips progress.

West losing at home to Manulla is a bit of a surprise.

I would have a similar opinion. Ballinasloe have the best chance, Shiven are a tough physical side and Kilkerrin not much of a chance from Roscommon perspective. Castlerea are not going well at the moment and they face a tough tie v Ballina. Was really surprised at City i thought they would do well. Carbury are Sligo best chance i'd say.

Are Iorrathes Aonthaite a good side? Also i can see a Carbury v Ballina in last sixteen which would be a good game.

Dunno the odds but Athenry would have to be favourites, main challengers would be other Galway Premier teams, Carbury FC, Ballinasloe and a couple of the top Mayo sides....

1 quarterfinalist will be from (Westport v Corrib Rangers) v (Dunmore v Ballyhaunis).....would fancy Westport to win 2 home ties
another quarterfinalist from (Shiven v Manulla) v (Castlebar v Ballyhane).... tough one to call, Shiven with 2 home draws against Mayo Super League teams?? although Manulla won away to West Utd in the 3rd round.

4th round tie: East Utd v St Patricks(all Galway affair, East reached 1/4ers and semis in last 2 years)

Other teams through to 4th round are: Mervue, Salthill, Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe, OLBC

Looking at Athenrys draw to the 1/4ers they may not have things as comfortable as we think. 3rd round away to Ballymote(nice young footballing side in Sligo Super League), 4th round home to Mervue, 5th round home to Salthill(probable), away quarterfinal??

plenty of banana skins in that path, they'd wanna still have the hunger for it

it is hard to stay hungry no matter what competition or sport you play. This will be a huge factor for them. Some teams get complacent when they are winning for a while. This is where a good manager can really excel by continuosly pushing harder in training and keeping guys hungry. is it 3 or 4 in a row there goin for?

Would you believe its only a 2 in a row!!!

They won it in 07 and 08, Castlerea won in 09 and Athenry won it again last season.....still 2 '2 in a rows' in 5 years has a certain ring about it

Ballinasloe are always a good side and can really move the ball well so have a chance, cant see Shiven going anywhere, they wont the Roscommon league last year and that was their peak. i would be very comfortable in saying Kilkerrin will not win it as they are well out of their depth at this level imo, but saying that anyone who goes to Kilkerrin will get a hard game and be very glad if they come out with a result

    I'll go with:

    Boyle v Athenry
    Oranmore v Westport
    Carbury v City
    West v Hibs
the above was from 10/11/2010. 3 of my 8 selections have played their 3rd round game, only 1 won(Westport). City and West are gone.

    Time to revise my selections?!!?

    Ballisodare v Athenry
    Carbury v Ballinasloe
    Oranmore v Westport
    Castlebar v Hibs

3 of the 8 have made it to the 4th round, will the Longshanks curse strike again??

Castlerea were well beat by Ballina last year, however after a slow start they managed to get back into the game and if it was for a few harsh sending off's thet it would have been alot closer than the 7-4 result it ended.

What is up with Castlerea this year? They were in with a great position in the league only a few weeks ago but have faded completely out of it. They seem to have lost all their experienced players. A strong side on their day when they have all these guys playin.

Hard say fatboy, havent ever got going since the Conn Cup win, still alot of players in the 25-29 age group so might have a chance of getting it back together again, a good run in the cup could spark the interest again.

I hear a few of them are fond of their Saturday nights. If they can sort things out have a few decent players.
