Now now now, you can't make allegations like that, suggesting that is what is done in order to pay retainers to players who sign early in the season but are not available to play for a number of months, but still move to Sligo, living on no apparent income. Ahem.

Things must be getting bad - we're getting a lecture on financial propriety from the crusties. The club who got Nick Leeson to draw up their financial plan and were then stunned when he said it didn't work out because he had overestimated future returns (imagine that).

In fairness, if the club declared the attendance at a cup game to be lower than they actually are so that less money needs to be given to the away team, then the away team (and/or a supporter) has a right to question it.
