Well considering Shels were demoted for deferring wage payments (and later paying all players in full, most less than 10 weeks after the end of the season and all with agreements in place before licencing decisions were made)
I'd imagine nothing will happen to Bohs!

The independent licence committee will find no wrong doing of course.

Same way other clubs since 2006 have been able to reduce or delay players pay weeks into a season having just signed them and no punishment was handed down.

Of course there was no Budgets submitted to licencing or SCP in place in 2006 when Shels were demoted so that is probably more reason for nothing to happen to Bohs I'm sure Bohs submitted a budget that had the final weeks of the year with zero payments to players? and I suppose they are well under the 60% SCP considering all the major groundwork that they have been doing with Dalymount

really? I didnt direct it at anyone. Ive also seen it typed on here many times - usually by DaHamsta and in the context i used it. Ive never taken any offence to it. I never found it unusually agressive.

Maybe if i change it to "refrain from saying anything at all", you could recover enough from the shock of it to actually try and make a relevant point.

haha OK it's not a massive deal, I'm just saying people are going to idly speculate despite your protestation and insider info.

Much ado about nothing. Media report a Delaney / Gavin peddled line and some on here raise an eybrow questioning its veracity.

Pretty normal I would say, given the FAI's poor credibility.

Exactly, a few people have the audacity not to accept as fact a media report from an organisation with no credibility, and we're told to "shut the hell up". Disgraceful carry on.
And if what higgins says above is true, (and i've no reason to doubt him), about how shels dealt with their issues, and still got relegated, it'll make an even bigger mockery of the league if this issue isn't dealt with in a similar way. But i suppose bohs having a gun to the FAIs head regarding the contract payoffs, that may or may not happen, depending on how their licence application goes, will probably be the deciding factor.

Drama queen - get over yourself. Not really what i said either if you are being accurate - more a case of "put up or shut the hell up". Nothing wrong with that.

Ah, name calling. I didn't expect you to sink so low, so fast.
I read in various media outlets last weekend that brian shelley would have withdrawn his winding up order if it came down to it. Would you accept that as the truth?

Sure. I accept it as his version of the truth considering it was a direct quote from him.

“I’m very close to that,” added Fenlon when asked was he at the end of his tether and would he, indeed, quit. “I want to make sure all the players are sorted out and that’s resolved. There are people at the club due wages outside of the playing side.

“It would be very difficult for me to go and sign players while that situation remains. It’s not fair on anybody to do that. When all that is sorted, I’ll make a decision on what I want to do then.”

Bohemians secretary Denis Maher confirmed the club hadn’t been in a position to sign players until the contract/severance issues are resolved.

“You can sign players up to 24 hours before the game. Now we must work to get a squad of players together,” said Maher.

Just so we're clear, Shels were lucky to be only relegated after their carry on. That other clubs may get better treatment doesn't detract from the fact they rode the league for years and, thankfully, are now paying that price.

Fair play to them for sorting themselves out

Seriously Stu - you'd benefit from looking at things with a less biased mindset. I can well understand how you're almost exclusively interested in seeing your club survive, and how your views are biased in that regard, but to tell others who can view things objectively to "shut the hell up" is a bit much.

In the meantime, the Indo are reporting that we've been put on standby for the Setanta Cup as Bohs only have four players signed (link in the UCD forum). That game is Bohs/UCD v Portadown on 21 Feb, with the return on 1 March.

yes. The second post is directly referring to the previous one. Im not sure what your point is. I also have no problem stating that anyone who gets so apparently offended, shocked or dismayed by the phrase "shut the hell up" is engaging in dramatics.

Im not sure why so many people are missing the point. Ill try and explain it again so there is no confusion over what i am saying. I do not have a problem with speculation. What i do have a problem with is a poster being challenged to provide proof of something which has already been reported in several media reports while on the other hand posters may speculate idly and present their ideas as fact and in such a way that it becomes accepted as fact and none of this is challenged.

I really had no idea that posters here were so sensitive to the phrase "shut the hell up". Especially when it is posted in a totally different way/context. if you cannot provide proof of your accusations then you should shut the hell up instead of asking someone to prove what is already in the media. Put up or shut up. Its pretty simple really and i thought it was on of those inherent rules that differentiates this website from other similar websites. I dont see why it should be a problem for so many.

Good luck to UCD if we are forced to pull out of the Setanta - i hope you do yourselves proud. I said it earlier in this thread that i am not against Fenlon leaving and if not being able to field a team to compete in the Setanta is the straw that breaks the camels back then i am okay with that.

by the way, yes i am totally biased. As biased as anyone else. Probably moreso. But i dont think that my point should be dismissed because of bias in favour of my club when that is clearly not the case here. I just want a bit of consistency in the application of the rules.

SkStu surely if Fenlon doesn't manage to get enough players signed before the deadline you could just fill up the rest of the team from your A team or were they culled aswell? could Bohs afford to keep the remaining players on contract for experience and just add a load of freebie amateurs to make up the numbers? If not, then I'm assuming Fenlons likely to be approached about taking a pay cut aswell? Not having a go or anything, chances are you don't know the figures to answer my questions but just wondering what the general consensus with the fans seems to be?

No harm SkStu, but read the Limerick thread if you think FAI press releases need have any grounding in reality.

I assume the next time you start putting about stories you've heard as fact (i.e. all the time) even when you don't really know what's happening at Bohs (suggested by your surprise when the proverbial hit the fan towards the end of last season, for example), you won't mind being told to shut the hell up?

Fenlon will have a squad, don't worry about that.

He had a full squad training in Carton house last week.

Whether they want the hassle of Setanta or not is a different issue

No harm taken PineappleStu. As i said numerous times at this stage - speculation is okay as long as that is all it is and that is all it is presented as. By the way, Ive made it my business to become more informed about the goings on in the club since. And i really wasnt that surprised at the time despite what you say - though i was a bit surprised that it took so little time to all break down so quickly.

But if you feel that i need to provide evidence of something that goes against what has been reported you can ask me to provide evidence or shut the hell up. Id like to at least think that i would be asked to provide evidence before being told to shut the hell up which, afterall, is all i said in the first place.

i thought we still had retained our A team too horton but Fenlons lines seem to put that in doubt. Reading between the lines i think he is asking for the club to stump up for some players as opposed to taking from A and youth teams. Your second question, the answer is yes, i believe we are retaining a few of the senior players (2 effin goalies though). I dont htink Fenlon has been or will be approached about taking another cut. I dont agree with it but there seems to be a modicum of logic behind it given how much it would cost us to pay him off added to the fact that he is a good manager and a decent shot to keep us up. The general concensus is really 50/50 amongst the fans. I would let him go if we could and bring in one of the usual cheap faces.
