I feel the "gloating" towards bohs fans is a direct result of their own gloating especially over the last 2 and half seasons.Terms coined by certain bohs fans such as "big club"and "minnows" arn't doing them any favours now esp. the latter which showed disrespect to any opposition fan, most likely in jest, but now is the time that these phrases are coming back to haunt them-They were always going to!
I was always told in my professional capacity to treat people nice on your way up as you're sure to meet them on the way down.
Ahhh those were the days ! most of us have no problem with the "gloating" - not looking for sympathy, we made the mess and will have to get ourselves out of it, end of. The problem here is any effeort to discuss and/or explain is showered in a lot of made up garbage masquerading as "inside information" (mainly from the 4% club) . This is of course impossible to deal with and the discussion desends into farce.
It does reflect badly on the league, personnaly I got no pleasure from the demise of Shels, Drogs, Cork, Derry and ...... deep breath shams. I think each loss weakens the League and that would never give me any pleasure as I am a League fan. if it is our turn c'est la vie - in the long term we are all dead ! shams already running up deficits...........
* "we are invincible" was a football chant of a season we lost two games (one of them after the title was won) it was not stated club policy.![]()
I think events have shown that most of the "made up garbage" has actually come from Bohs fans - we've cut costs, we're grand, we're well inside the SCP this year.
And I think Bohs going broke will ultimately strengthen the league, not weaken it. I don't consider that gloating. (Ditto for Fingal). This ridiculous overspending has to stop for clubs to have any hope of building properly.

Are you saying that fans of clubs in other leagues would somehow think about the common good and rally around the fallen? Get a grip man.
Our league is in the dump partly because its run by incompetentos but mostly because the football public convince themselves, against all evidence to the contrary, that they are football fans.
Jicked, shams have been spouting the same rubbish for years (see thread(s) last season. maybe its a "cry wolf" thing but they have no credibility anymore. The FAI / licencing people said Bohs did not (were not allowed) budget for european success, i believed them in my nievity.
Any chance you can actually argue the point being made rather than switching the focus away from the topic yet again?
As per the rules, we're all entitled to discuss each others' clubs. If you don't like that, don't post. Given the amount of times you've been warned and infracted over this before, you'd think you'd have learnt by now.
The "We are invincible" season was the year we had the fourth highest wage bill and pats had highest at approx 3 million (hence the connection).
Glad to see that Dodge can refer to Bohs but I cant refer to Pats. Nothing like consistent application of the rules is there ?
Actually yes, I've seen in in some instances, not when it's a top side, but certainly in the lower echelons. However I agree with you in reasoning why our league is a mess, it's been run as a sideshow and to keep a seat at the table for blazers. Some clubs are genuinely trying, others are surviving while the rest are boom and bust. I disagree with saying that the football public reckon they're football fans, they are fans, but they're not supporters. Supporters turn up as often as possible to their own or other league games, support initiatives and while being blinkered try to see the game as a whole. Glorying in another's misfortune is just wrong in so many ways and inviting bad karma (though having had enough already maybe DCFC Steve reckons it's time to dole some out). When Dundalk was in the pits I lived in the town and I saw how it affected everyone, and I saw that even GAA supporters were a little less than on the spot to slag off the club. There is no quick fix for the league, only medium-long term solutions that have to be precisely overseen by professionals, not given lip service by clubs and the FAI. I don't remember if this was suggested before, though I think I read it on a thread, a permanently placed accounts/admin professional needs to be each club and appointed by an independent body - like they do in the USA and Canada down to Junior pro level. This way a little bit of sense will return to the game. In one go you create over 20 jobs for young graduates and make clubs legitimate.
It's a thread about Bohs. Like, duh.
I think there was a lot of sympathy when small clubs folded because they didn't have the people to keep them going - Kilkenny and Kildare being obvious examples. I think when a club recklessly racks up millions of debt, helping cause wage inflation throughout the league and leading to the current situation where they're causing more bad news stories for the league, it's hard to be too sympathetic. The fact that it was their fans who voted most of the club's actions through - and, it's worth noting, those who queried what was happening were rounded on and driven out, as per the Indo article - means it's actually their fault as well, and they can't use the "hated uncontrollable owner" line.Originally Posted by Spudulika
But yeah, ultimately, I think if they (and Cork and Shels and Derry and others) had had a bit more humility and awareness of what was going on during the "good times", there'd be less of a backlash now. That's just human nature, I think.

[QUOTE=pineapple stu;1388577]It's a thread about Bohs. Like, duh. its was a reply to the "We are invincible" chant. You should know, you raised it, Duh
It had nothing to do with the post you were answering. Now give it a rest. Seriously, the site would be the better without trolls like yourself; wouldn't be too hard to arrange either.
