I think solvency is wrong too.

(Unless you want to go to the really technicaly definition of insolvency, in which case Bohs are solvent too)

For what it's worth, their balance sheet at Nov 09 and Nov 08 was -

    Code:
    	                   2009 2008
    Intangible assets 1214 2023
    Tangible assets 87412 13303
    Investments 0 100

    Debtors 112818 60939
    Cash 10226 10226

    Creditors -414653 -145714

    Nett liabilities	-202983 -59123
By way of supposing, tangible assets may be training gear? Debtors is presumably up because of more prize money due at the year end. Cash is presumably a dormant no 2 account cos the balance hasn't changed. Creditors are broken down as follows -

    Code:
    	          2009 2008
    Overdraft 39645	34918
    Loan 2501 0
    Leases 21605 3434
    Trade creditors	108873	11817
    Other 5091 0
    Accruals	128623	20099
    PAYE 108315	73443
Interesting figure there is the trade creditors flying up. There's also no mention of stock anywhere; do the club or Umbro run the shop?

Umbro run it. John Coutney gave a basic outline of how it works on the Pats forum (previous one). They source all non Umbro products too

An icrease of 35k in PAYE indicates how much their wages have went up

Yeah, and I'm not angry about that either. No one to blame but themselves.

I wonder how many clubs over inflate their intangible assets? Ridiculous that they try put a value on it (or am I being thick again?)

Fairy nuff. Suppose "angry" isn't the word really.

On the wages, they were always going to go up last season in fairness, even by half as you could extrapolate from those figures. An increase this season would be more interesting.

Edit - it should probably also be noted that there's a parent company, Shamrock Rovers Members Club Limited, which I think is the old 400 club. Members' subs were down E50k last year, and the company gave E110k less to SRFC Ltd during the year than the previous year. It made E6k last year.

Interesting when most clubs cut down on wages last year but there is accounting and then defending the "model club" eh Stu ?

Most clubs had a decrease in income to be honest.just to be clear I wasn't having a go at shams (in this instance). i suspect that most clubs (as has been said in other posts) overspend on a "build it and they will come" philosophy unfortunately ignoring that crowds have been declining (broadly) for the last 30+ years.
Nobody appears willing to accept that the current awful crowds may well be as good as it gets (allowing for the odd peaks and throughs depending on success, europe etc) especially in a declining economy.

When a club doubles their attendance and can suddenly start earning money from advertising hoardings among other things, I think you can justify raising wages. Maybe not by as much as they did, but you can certainly justify it.

Nothing new about that. Shels used that model a few year back.

When you say "new business model", did you actually mean "the same business model Shels and Bohs used"?

Edit: Beaten to it by SMorgan.
