Then they'll end up in 2A and will have only have played half the games. I can see these lads playing a game every second day once the evening games are back. There is no minor team or C team at Cals. The 14 or 15 lads that are left are the club. Looks as though they'll be expected to play at least 18 games between now and end of the season. They will have to give a walkover in one of the cups as they can't have players who play in both.

What I am saying is that a decision needs to be made here, they either just play in 1b or they play in division 4 because what will happen is that with the amount of games ye are expected to play ye'll end up being relegated in 1b and not getting a thing in division 4. A decision needs to be made here and if I was involved with the committe I know I would want the club to stay in 1b.
it was brought up at our committee meeting that this could cost us both but wed rather try and stil get promoted from 4a and try stay up in 1b than pick one over the other weve been lucky so far that both sides havent had a game on the same day its no secret we wont beat the likes of pike and knockainey but i think weve a chance against dromore and herbertstown and 2 wins could be enough problem is some of our better players cant make morning matches so our a team is weaker than our b team imo

Best of luck anyway with both teams for the season at least it shows that you have a good group of lads that want to play.

Yeah, best of luck GK. At least the lads that are there now want to actually play for the club and have no exhalted opinions of themeslves like some of the players that were there before.

Thats some ask for 15 players, they'll prob give the cup walkover in the 1A cup, coz I don't think your allowed play B players in the divisional cup anyway, and even if they were allowed, they'd have a better chance of winning the Div4 cup than the 1A cup

I suppose the most annoying thing for the Cals management is that all the players that left have only signed for B teams with which makes it hard to understand.
As for fixtures its only a matter of time before the 2 teams are down to play at the same time.

Good point blueboy- As far as I know 3 players went to Premier clubs and 1 went to a 1A club. The rest either went to Pike B or teams in lower divisions. Considering the strides the club had made over last 3 years, there must have been something seriously wrong at the club or with the team management for so many to leave. That or the players themselves thought they were too good for the club.

Jeffrey Roche with Star is one, who else signed Prem?

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just saying you cant fault a player if he wants to play in the top league,

I understand that but for players to go to Fairview B and Pike B who both have big squads already these players are not going to be picked to play every week so it just doesent make sense especially if your the Cals manager.

So does anybody know why they all left??? Must be sickening for the Caledonians committee and club members, after bringing the team up from 2B I think it was. One of the oldest clubs in Limerick

I spoke to one of the committe at the game on Sunday. He told me they had signed 21 players at the start of the season knowing that the usual 4 or 5 would pack it in once the winter set in, so they had planned to have a squad of about 15/16 committed players. He listed all of the names to me, just jotted them down there and it goes something like this:
    Conor Renihan (keeper) emigrated
    Nigel Casey - Janesboro
    Clifton Carey- Packed in playing
Declan Ryan- works out of town
    Jeffrey McNamara- Pike B
    Eddie Lee- Pike B
    Wayne Lee- Fairview B
    Kieran Ryan- Pike B
Jamie McMahon- Geraldines (in fairness one of the last to leave)
    Kevin young- stopped turning up
    Paul Fitz- Geraldines B
    David Fitzmaurice- Aisling
    Barry Boland- Emigrated
    Jeffrey Hayes- stopped turning up.

All that they have left from original group is Ger Thompson, Ralph Marsh and the lad who played in goals the other day who was supposed to have finished playing last year after an injury to help with training but was thrown in goals

Going by that that technically leaves 9 players still signed on A forms for Cals. It's not up to the LDMC to know whether the players have left the country or stopped showing up. As far as they are concerned those players are Cals A players. That should be enough to satisfy the criteria of having enough players on A forms unless there is a minimum of 11 required.

Ya your right the B players can't play in the 1B Cup.

The LDMC might not be too happy with Cals giving a walkover in it.

Is it too late to transfer players up to the A team? I think it is.

Ya its too late to get a transfer but im not sure if this will apply to an internal transfer within a club.

Same dates apply as far as I know. We had one or two lads transfer within the club and we were told it had to be done by 31st January.
