Going by the match tracker of the Ulysses match , Shamrock Rovers have a good chance of progressing.

Posted the groups above in a seperate post. Some of those look harder than the weak CL groups. Man City, Juve, Saltzburg (potential banana skin) and Liverpool, Napoli, Steaua, Utrecht is not a walkover, as is Atletico, Leverkusen, Aris Salonica and Rosenborg and the PSG, Dortmund, Sevilla, Lvov group... In terms of quality/difficulty its hard to pick between those groups or the Lyon, Benfica, Schalke, Tel Aviv (CL) group.
Have to say I almost prefer the UEFA Cup just for the extra variety involved. Some decent games too.
What happened Villa last night? Are they just not taking Europe seriously again, or did the Austrians just do very well to get through?
Alkmaar must be disgusted at their group!

True.
I suppose what I'm curious about is did they take it as seriously as the last time, when they fielded reserves.
Say West Ham's season is going from bad to worse given they were hammered by Villa only last week...
Edit - didn't realise Rapid beat Villa at the same stage last year, even though I was in Austria for the first leg of that tie.
Edit edit - eight changes between the Newcastle and Rapid games. Though given the Newcastle result, that may well have been justified!

Anyone know the craic with tickets for the final? Would love to go no matter who's in the final.
you have to apply through uefa.com in the new year, usually around the end of march/early april for the tickets.
I've applied for Champions League final tickets every year for the past few years with no luck
The one time I did apply for UEFA Cup Final tickets, I won and was at the Rangers - Zenit St Petersburg game.

thats not true, at least it wasnt in 2008, i applied from a London address (final was in Manchester) and got tickets.
Last season there was a separate application period for German residents for the Hamburg final. I think it was before the general one.
I've applied for UEFA Cup final tickets twice and got them both times (Hamburg last season and Glasgow in 2007 - cracking match between Sevilla and Espanyol). I applied for Champions League final tickets once (2006 Arsenal - Barcelona in Paris) and got them too, although I only applied cos a mate wanted to go.
