I'm not reading that letter as confirmation of getting block booking, just an offer to take a season ticket for this campaign.

Either way, I'm happy. Also seems at least one of my two mates in the UK has got the same offer.

Perhaps, but would be unlikely that we get it for this season and not future years. Unless the seats are vantage which they def arent. The only thing with the new season ticket idea is that it makes it a bit more difficult passing on tickets if you cant make a match, would need to make sure you get the card back etc.

Got offered 4 block booker tickets last week. We were told that we had no chance after not missing a game a croker. Tickets got offered to lansdowne block bookers first. 350 per ticket if you pay upfront. There's an option to buy them 50 for qualifiers and 40 for friendlies.

Don't think there's any difference. The FAI are saying these are additional general admission tickets that have become available so that would say they are basically tickets that block bookers who didn't reknew.

The FAI didn't tell you the tickets were now a block booking did they? In fact they didn't say anything except that the tickets are for this campaign, therefore they can't be GUARANTEED

    Which is what he asked

Chill my friend. I only asked you had the FAI told you the tickets were not guaranteed. Did they? The FAI told me that i was on the bb waiting list as i said. I have an email from them at the time.

The letter I got is a bit open. I'm not sure either way.

    Dear Mr Madrid...

We are pleased to inform you that a limited number of additional general admission tickets have become available at Aviva Stadium. This has enabled us to offer you an allocation of 2 based on your purchase for matches in Croke Park.

Nothing to say that they are guarenteed after this season. Hard to see how I could drop off the list either though, if non-renewal means you go to the back of the queue???? Have sent an e-mail to find out.

id be pretty confident they are for good. what kind of patron would suddenly appear on the scene to take your ticket for future campaigns??

I was on the WL and got the same letter offering me 4 based on what I took for Croker. Contacted the FAI to ask is this a permanent allocation or just for this season and then i go back on the WL? They efficiently replied and confirmed that this is a permanent allocation. I had previously got the "sorry you will not be getting tickets for aviva" letter so I was more than happy.

Guys, I was on waiting list at around 700 I was last told. Should I expect a letter or is the cut off a bit lower for the Argentina game?

I'm much worse than 700 on the waiting list and I got a season ticket offer of two. Letter was dated 16 July, but received on 23 July with a deadline for return on 27 July.

Interesting to see they have confirmed by email that a season ticket is permanent. Why don't they call it a block-booking so? I wondered whether my season ticket might offer different seats for each match, that they might move me around on a game-by-game basis. I drew this conclusion based on the fact that they haven't confirmed whether I'm getting a card or individual tickets. I presume a card is for the same seat for every game, but individual tickets per game could be anywhere within 'Upper tiers East, West and South Stands and Lower tier North/South stands', which is the 'Location' stated in my letter..

As far as I know, the only real difference between the "season ticket" and a regular block booking is that you have to prepay for the season ticket and you receive a swipe card. Other block bookers will pay the invoice for each game (or pair of games) and will continue to receive paper tickets in the post. The FAI decided to dedicate some seats in the centre of the stands to encourage people to buy season tickets (clearly they will be happier to get cash in hand if they can). Every other block booker should get the same seat for each game provided they continue to pay their invoices.

It seems like they are offering people on the waiting list a "season ticket" only because its the best way to get money in the door immediately (we can't blame them for that).

Block bookers were offered the season tickets too. It would have meant a saving on the regular price too.

I was away and by the time I applied I was too late to get a season ticket.

I think once you keep buying your season ticket the FAI won't take it off you. They may have to cover themselves
in case the Vantage Club sells out but with churn etc you will be fine.

I rang them last week to find out what the story was for tickets to the Argentina game and they told me I could have four season tickets if I wanted them. I was about 1100 on the waiting list (have been on the list since '04) and took four tickets to every game in croker since the Germany game in 07 (I only took two for the first few games). I was also told that I was now a block booker for good, so I can't see how they could take them away from me now.

In short, I'm very pleased. Obviously I was expecting to be able to get tickets for the Argentina game but not for the rest of the campaign. Maybe this stadium is big enough for us after all.
