TNS have Steve Evans, who has 7 caps for Wales (all fairly recent). Also a number of under-21 caps. And the Moldova international team isn't nearly as good as the Wales/England ones anyway, which is where Welsh clubs get their players from.
A lot of people I think have underestimated the strength of the TNS side. It's true that the Welsh Premier outside the top few teams isn't terribly strong, but TNS have years of experience playing in Europe and have not lost a game by more than a single goal for several years now, despite playing decent teams like MyPa47 and Ventspils, who played in the group stages of the Europa League last year (they only lost to Ventspils on away goals). They're much better than some here have given them credit for.

Well yeah it is the same guy. He did have Bohs 2008 (iirc) accounts online. He did correctly talk about the Fenlon/Dundee deal all the way through (Fenlon was in Dundee, was planning on taking the job, and then he also said when the deal started to fall apart). It's head in the sand stuff if you don't think there's any truth to it.
but so what if there is a poster. I believe you that there is a whistleblower and i have a suspicion as to who it might be. Whether or not the story is true i dont know but it very well could be. But whoever he is, he deserves to be castrated. End of story.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
Serious abuse there, but its hard not to feel angry if you've travelled over with high expectations only to have to witness a mauling to that degree by a team from a league ranked well below ours.
Bohs accounts were sent out to over 300 people - not to mention ANYONE can apply to companies office for ANY clubs accounts (save the cost of an application for SRFC by taking previous years accounts and tippexing the year), I know this because I have seen many of them (would not be naff enough to post them though)
Fact is the "Fenlon / Dundee "done deal" crap was just that, crap (which explains why he is STILL at Bohs). His visit to Dundee was (again) in the papers - hardly a secret. Who can forget the "Fenlon walking out on breach of contract" story peddled here by "inside sources" ?
And we got no compo for Deegan either - another SRFC "exclusive" that was pure nonsense.
I was at the first leg, and TNS aren't bad. But Wales are 17 PLACES behind Ireland in the co-efficient rankings, and Bohs weren't squeezed out - they were thrashed. Bohs play in Dalymount Park - the historic home of Irish football. (TNS, from what I've seen on You Tube, basically play in a field). Bohs have a history going back to 1990. They have years of experience in Europe, including some notable recent victories (eg Aberdeen). Bohs were disgraced, and there is no excuse, or even rational reason, for what happened.
Eh - Bohs history goes back to 1890 - not 1990.
That post just sums up the attitude of the Bohemians fans. I've read a number of harsh and unfair things written about TNS. Most of it, I have to say, is based on ignorance, exaggerated by frustration at the result. You had one lad on here who asked how Bohemians could lose to a part time team, well TNS are professional and have been for several seasons now. Other disdainful comments about the pitch and stadium, when they've only just begun to re-develop their ground and have added a 1,000-seat stand recently (which isn't, incidentally, visible from YouTube) and the pitch is UEFA-approved.
Dalymount Park is a good stadium but that doesn't mean anything in a football game. Fulham have a ground that looks more like it should be in League One than the Premiership, yet they made the final of the Europa League this year. Villarreal's ground is not much to look at yet they have been a semi-final Champions' League team in recent years. TNS won because they had a better footballing team than Bohemians; the architecture of their stadium is totally irrelevant.
As for a rational reason for why this happened, well it wasn't that unlikely in my view. I mentioned in a post here just after the draw that TNS would fancy their chances because they have been competitive in all their recent games in Europe, not losing any game by more than a single goal for several years. It was only a matter of time before they finally won a tie in Europe, and Bohemians were probably the weakest team in the seeded half of the draw, or at least one of the weakest. The margin of the victory was something of a surprise (it could have been closer as Bohemians had one or two chances) but the fact that they won was not that surprising.

Have not seen any Bohs fan argue different Straightstory. Deserve any/every slagging going after Tuesday nights debacle. Object though to usual tossers dragging up non truths about Bohs finances (again) on any pretence - especially based on nothing remotely resembling facts.
The fact remains that Wales is 17 places behind Ireland in European ranking - which is why the result was a big surprise . And I tried to make the similar point that a narrow margin might just have been forgivable. I just think there was something badly amiss in the Bohs camp.
I wish TNS all the best against Anderlecht. I'd be chuffed if they won.
And - I'm not a Bohs fan. I'm a Drogheda fan. I just like to see Irish teams doing well in Europe.
Aw come on, the writing's been on the wall for a number of years. Only for Pat's (unexpected -more so last year) performances, the last few years, we'd already have begun descending the rankings.
We're going to yo-yo in the co-efficient tables, and we had already stopped going upwards.
The fact that it's this result brings that home only creates, a little, sense of schadenfreude.
Some of you need to take a look at dcfcsteve's sig.
All the best to our other clubs tonight. I hope am wrong, but don't think they'll be play any more euro games this season.
It's rare indeed for fans of an Irish team to be 'arrogant' about any game in Europe. We know our place - through years of bitter experience. I never thought Bohs would have it easy in the away leg against TNS. However, I think it wasn't unreasonable to expect them to put on a better display having won the first leg and playing a team from a country 17 places below us in the European rankings (sorry to go on about that).
I don't expect either Fingal or Rovers to progress tonight, because they're playing teams from better leagues, with infinitely better resources, and where fans support their local teams. However, I'll go along to cheer on Fingal in the hope they might surprise me and bring some much needed positive publicity to the League, which is something presumably we all care about to quite a large degree, otherwise we wouldn't bother with this forum.
But Bohs weren't playing the Welsh league, but the best team in it (by some distance I suspect).
Replace every reference to TNS on this thread with 'Derry City' and every reference to Bohs with Gretna, and see how it looks.
The Scottish League is ranked much higher than the LOI, so surely every Scottish team should be able to beat every Irish team in Europe...? The same debate was had in Scottish football circles when we turned over Gretna. And it was the same answer then - one team who thought they were on to an easy win were beaten well by a much better side.
Bohs lost to a much better team on Tuesday night, and can have no excuses

TNS could win the game 5-1 and play it wherever Derry played Gretna and the point would still remain. The LOI is better than the Welsh League. It was one result. It doesn't mean it can't happen again..I mean even Derry could win again..
Was the LOI suddenly better than the SPL because the nordies pulled off one result?

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.
SS - what's your slavish fixation with the statistical supremacy of league rankings ? These are cup ties where you play individual teams, not a league aggregate side.
Over the last few seasons Irish teams have beaten sides from Russia, Scotland, Sweden and Poland amongst others. But how could that be - they're all leagues ranked above ours ?!?
You can't blindly assume that any one team from a country can't possibly be any better than the five year aggregate of all competing teams from that country in Europe. In fact - common sense will tell you that, like all averages, reality lies either side of it.
Which is exactly the point, and which is why I'm trying to drag people away from the relevance of league rankings and on to the capabilities of individual teams instead.
Derry were better than Gretna. And from what I saw, TNS were better than Bohs. The league rankings have nothing to do with it.
