Starting Lineup for Euro 2012 Getting Max points vs A&A

I believe we must get max points vs Armenia and Andorra.
We always regret dropping points on an early goal etc, and that must stop here. No excuses, it is to be 6/6 in these September games in my opinion, or else it is the same old same old.

So lads, Is this the starting lineup, the same as vs France? Assuming all are healthy of course, and there are not going to be any players rejoining the team after lengthy absences (ahem) or any other nonsense?
I'm unsure where we are with Kilbane. But anyway do you all think it will be:

    Given
    Oshea Dunne St Ledger Kilbane
    Duff Andrews Whelan Lawrence
    Keane Doyle

3 September less than 2 months away!!!! Happy Summer to all but never too early to talk this up now that this boring World Cup has mercifully been blown to a halt.
    Anyone going to Armenia?

Less than 2 months? Christ, didn't realise it was that soon. I agree we need maximum points and I'd expect us to get them. Armenia have had the odd result but they're no Cyprus.

I could go either way with Kilbane. On one hand, he's as experienced as Moses and there's not exactly a queue of viable lefties banging on the door. On the other, he's past his best and looking vunerable. I'd probably go with the same team as yourself but I'd be considering moving O'Shea over to the left and bringing in Kelly at right back. I vaguely remember Trap saying something like 'It'l be great to have Kevin's experience around the squad' or something to that effect which I thought was a hint his first team days might be over. But hey, maybe I imagined it.

I'd like someone to put pressure on Lawrence for his position too. I'd be looking at Hunt, McGeady or even McCarthy but right now, it's his to lose.

There'll be 3 PremierLeague games out of the way by the time this comes around and it will be interesting to see how many of the above 11 will have started for their respective clubs. Given (injury), Kilbane, Andrews, Lawrence and Keane could all struggle to nail down a starting place for their clubs from the offset which is a concern but we should definitely have what it takes to pick up a comfortable 6 points.

Hopefully, Trap starts phasing out Kilbane now, Lawrence gets a club where he will start regularly, McCarthy continues his form at Wigan and as for Keane......we'll wait and see but it would be great to see him get his place back at Spurs!!

I'd have O'Shea at left full and give Kelly the right back jersey, but at the same time right back is clearly JOS's best position and you'd want him playing there long term.

I'm hoping Coleman starts for Everton from the off and muscles his way into our team. Switch O'Shea to the left and thank Kilbane for his long service.

Still havent cleared up that problem at left back which is disappointing. Only other option is Cunningham, and they are probably 2 decent games to ease him in to competitive football but whether he's ready for a must win game that will be Armenia, probably not. So for that reason if all are fit, I'd expect that Crosby's team is how we'll line up. Im heading to Armenia and there are another good few from this forum.

What about Gibson, Stokes, McCarthy, Cunningham, Coleman, Meyler, Wilson and Duffy? All aged between 18 and 23, and already either capped or due to be capped in time. We will have late developers a la Whelan or Stephen Ward too. Plenty of 'forgotten men' around like Garvan and Daryl Murphy who could come good. The current U-19s are the best crop we've had in a long while too, with Brady, Henderson, Dunleavy, Gunning, Hourihane, Clifford, etc. Granted, some may fall off the radar, become permanently crocked (crossing my fingers over Meyler). Some might not even be good enough. But in terms of players coming through, I actually think we're better off now than we were at any time in the last four years. And we have a good, settled system for them to come into.

Given KellyDunneLedgerO Shea LawrenceReidMcCarthyDuff Keane Doyle Whelan, Andrews McGeady and Kilbane. all not up to it but offer cover to the team . Kelly is worth a shot at right full maybe until after the October games when it will be seen if Cunningham or Coleman or even Ward are playing regular first team football and showing good form. Having Liam and Andy in midfield offers us a bit of creativity from set pieces which we clearly lacked in the last campaign. How many times did close free kicks and corners not go over the first man?? About 50% id say. Reid and McCarthy are 2 excellent distributors of the ball and it was clearly shown in the world cup that if you want to progress you need someone to get the ball down in midfield and create. Trap should not have to worry about having 2 holding player in the centre of the park if he has confidence in his back 4. If trap goes into this campaign with the same game plan and negativity as the last campaign then at best we are looking at a playoff spot. What will trap play for the first game?GivenO Shea Dunne Ledger Kilbane/Kelly (switch with JOS)Duff Whelan Andrews Lawrence Keane Doyle

I think Trapp will have been impressed with Green so far and I'd be interested to see how he could perform against Argentina alongside more of the settled first 11 personnel.

If Green impressed again in that game, he could push Andrews close for a start in the quals.

    Given,
    Kelly, JOSH, Dunne, Kilbane
    McGeady, Andrews, Whelan, Duff,
    Keane, Doyle.

JOSH and Dunne are our best partnership in the centre of the defence. JOSH has never really impressed at full back for us, so included a specialist full back in Kelly. Included McGeady as he offers a more attacking balance and threat to the team than Lawrence.

To me the only position that is a real priority is left back. I agree with the poster above, Killer has become a liability. It needs sorting out, and sorting out now. While there are few easy games in International football, the two we have starting off are far from baptisms of fire.
I also believe that Dunne & O'Shea is the best partnership at cb that we have, although Sledge is an excellent backup.
Lawrence has something of an undefined quality on the right for us. I can't put the finger on it though. In the middle for me, Glenn is automatic, while I'd be willing to continue with Keith Andrews alongside him, unless of course James McCarthy is ready for the step up. Meyler is not going to be back in time, Steven Reid is gone, Andy Reid is crocked, and I don't rate Gibson.
    The front two pick themselves.
Here they come! It’s the charge of the “Thanks” Brigade!

I would start the campaign with O Shea and Kelly as the full backs. I know playing O Shea there isnt ideal but until the likes of O Halloran, Cunningham, Coleman and maybe Ward prove themselves a bit more I dont think they are ready just yet
    Its really not that complicated!!!
