Limerick Desmond League 2010/11

I give Rathkeale a great chance if they have a proper keeper tonight. Last Sunday they had Richie Shorten replaced late on by Sean O'Shea between the sticks, and between the two of them you wouldn't have a keeper, through no fault of their own. Peter O'Dea has also filled in there recently but he'd be a huge loss in defence. Roche will be a big loss for Abbeyfeale. Either way it should be a good game and best of luck to all involved.

Ya best of luck to both teams tonight..it should be a cracking game.I think it will be a very close game with only a goal or maybe penalties only separating the sides..hopefully there will be a crowd at it to witness a great game..

Is it true that rathkeale won 3-1 tonight?? Great result for the current Desmond cup champions..into another Desmond cup!! Anyone got any info from the game??

Yes it's true and thoroughly deserved. Awful first half with few chances created. 2nd half Rathkeale took over and Peter Nash scored after ball hit crossbar and post. Later Thomas Quilligan took a quick free and caught the Abbey keeper offguard. 2-0 to Rathkeale. With about 10 mins. left Abbeyfeale hit the post with Ollie Byrnes well beaten and from the ensuing corner Abbeyfeale scored with a great header. Game on with lots of time left. However a great pass from Damian Quaid sent substitute Steven Power away and after beating three defenders slotted the ball home. Great performance

Sounds like a good game(well second half) so...was there many there to watch it??hope the league make a nice bit of money from both semi final games..

Rathkeale were miles better than Abbey last night and well worth their 2 goal winning margin.

It finished 4-1 in the second semi final tonight..all rathkeale b in the first half and deserved their half time lead..all changed in the second half.newastle got 4 in the second half.looked like Tony Quaid was injured but ncw brought him on at half time and got two good goals.but was brought off again when ncw were 3-1 up.entertaining enough game

Broadford United:2 3:Shannonside

Shannonside up 2:0 after 30 minutes, Broadford made it 2:1 before halftime through Brian Hannigan. Liam Shaughnessy equalised with 20 minutes left.
Shannonside scored the winner in the 89th minute.

Does anybody know the date for the Desmond Cup Final this year I know they like to have it after the league is wrapped up will it be the same his year?

Set for Friday 27th May. Originally for the following night but the Champions League final on then. Rathkeale must be favourites on the semi's performances but who knows? Iheard that Glin were 4-0 up after 20 mins today against Askeaton who had just the bare 11. Some result and really opens up the relegation battle. I'm not going to hazard a guess who will go down but I reckon it won't be decided until the last ball has been kicked.
