Walsh could not get into a flow and subsequently there was in truth, no soccer coverage. It was a disgrace and poor from Tipp FM. I have been criticised for having a go at Muiris and I believe I am correct but last night he and the TSDL league were treated very poorly. Its abd enough that it is squeezed in at the end but last night they insulted everyone connected to soccer
Absolutely correct. It was an insult to Tipperary soccer. Not a mention of (1) North Tipp soccer(2) Carrick win in Munster Senior Cup (3) thrilling 4th division shield final
    (4) upcoming Munster Junior Cup quarter-finals (5) Ritchie Ryan and Chris Higgins on Amateur international panel. Of course it is not an official TSDL or NDL programme so Tipp FM can do/say what they like but Monday night was a total disgrace.

Tipperary Cup result; St.Michaels 4, St.Nicholas 0. Wasn't there but heard it was scoreless at half-time, St.Nicholas did well but ran out of steam in second-half.

Maybe the reason no one talks about the league is it is a poor league..rubbish even. top 2 hammering teams, teams who are struggling to get a panel together for a game..too much football on tv..not many going or interested in junior matches and particularly watching teams being beatin 4,5,6 or 7 nil..1st division probably most exciting at times..better games..more even teams...saints will continue to dominate the league and cup competitions with their structure..only challenge they have is pike or fairview who have the same structures, all this said clubs will struggle financially because not many going into watch these games. they might win things but are struggling.

It's not just Soccer that people are not going to watch all codes GAA and Rugby will tell you crowds have gone down a lot over the last 2 years. People are just not willing or able to pay to watch amateur sport anymore, only so much money to spend and amateur sport seems to be low on most people's lists.

Junior football will always have clubs who will win more than others , its the nature of football from the top down. But at junior level it is much more than just about winning. The purpose of the local club is to provide football, primarily for those who want to play the game.

saints havent won the league in 7 or 8 years rushy do abit of research before you comment, peake and celtic were in title run in last year with peake winning the league. Tsdl premier league is competitive bar one team who are having a terrible season this year at the bottom. asides from that your comments could just be about junior football nationwide with every league in the country has teams strugling to fill panels and leagues with 1 or 2 teams dominating. there is plenty interest in tsdl its just its a participant sport not a spectator sport unfortunatly, junior soccer bar the odd club here and there will always have low levels of actual sport at the games but plenty take an interest in results etc. Im sure there are plenty players in lower divisions who would actually like to watch saint michaels or clonmel town on a sunday but because all junior games are down for a sunday they are tied up with there own clubs. Unlike say in gaa where the games are scattered out over the week which allows people to get in as many games as they want within there own club and neighbouring clubs.

Saint michaels will get massive support from all local clubs around them if they get a big team at home from now in mjc or fai as the league starts to wind down for other clubs who may not be playing every sunday
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

You are right Balls. Just to note also, St.Michaels had their second biggest crowd of the season last night versus St.Nicholas. Despite all their home cup games on Sundays this season, their biggest was on a Sunday night last September under lights, a league game against Clonmel Celtic. The moral of the story is St.Michaels should play all their games under lights. Sundays have too much competition from live games on TV.

Looking forward to the Town/Villa game sunday, last year we had the famous goal and abandoned game, there is always drama and i think Villa have a couple of young players that have progressed this season that might come into this under the radar, might be a lot closer than people think,i am going to go for Villa to win it 2-1

The above game is scheduled for Thursday March 24th at 8pm.
The following squad are requested to meet in Cooke Park at 6pm where light pre match refreshments will be available.

Clonmel Town: John Shanahan, Richard Ryan, Ian Barnes, David McGrath, Tony Scully

    Cashel Town : Colin Bargary

    Wilderness Rovers: Sean O Hara

    Peake Villa: Alan Leahy

St. Michael's: Derek Breen, Chris Higgins, James Walsh, Paul Breen, Thomas Fahy, Jimmy Carr, Paraic Fogarty, Ritchie Ryan Shane Guerin

    Clonmel Celtic: Andrew Cosgrave

very strong squad selected, paul tobin and mikey comerford only 2 players missing who i think would improve squad. my eleven would be
    1 r ryan (gk)
    2 c higgins (rb)
    3 I barnes (lb)
    4 p breen (cb)
    5 j walsh (cb)
    6 j carr (rm)
    7 J shanahan (cm)
    8 c bargary (cm)
    9 t scully (cf)
    10 R Ryan (cf)
    11 P Fogarty (lm)
    ---------------------------------------------
    12 s o hara
    13 a leahy
    14 t fahey
Good team selection there, very strong. Might make two changes. I would have Ritchie Ryan in attacking midfield and put David McGrath up front instead of Padraic Fogarty. Wonder would Cosgrave be better than Bargary in midfield? Wonderful to see such commitment from the TSDL team this season - much of the credit for this must go to manager Mick O'Brien who has instilled new pride in the squad. The TSDL are really up against it as Wexford demolished Clare in last years final but with a repeat of the display against Cork A.U.L they can do it. Its a game that deserves support. Kick off is 8pm at Cooke Park Tipperary Town.

After all the complaints about lack of air time on Tipp Fm and promotion of the TSDL i decided to tune in last night and listen. The guy speaking on behalf of the TSDL was a shambles, a terrible public speaker muddling his words and with nothing of any interest to say, surely there is a need for someone to promote the league when given the opportunity, at least when Muiris Walsh speaks he speaks with passion and a genuine love of the league and soccer in Tipperary, Tommy Lewis the head of the league was in studio yet didnt say a word, what a leader he is, well done Tommy

Yes I heard the show. The TSDL wouldn't be known for their communication skills. Although I cant stand the man, Walsh to be honest is very good on all sports but shouldn't be talking about football.Once again he gave no credit to Town on their fine win against Peake in the Tipperary Cup. Plus eventhough Carrick only won 2-1 in Cork, he still when asked wouldnt revise his view on Town's performance. Then he gives a resounding thumbs up to Michael's and only has great things to say about them. Please dont tell me he is neutral. He dislikes Town and cant hide it. Yes he attends matches but I know from talking to people within the club, that he is very, very bitter towards them. I dont wish to drag up what happened last year but he left the club, nobody asked him to. Yet he goes on the radio and has a go at Town. i dont think that should be allowed
