Tipp Mid West have an anchor man who knows nothing about TSDL and is more interested in talking about the Premiership. After a brief discussion with the Dualla manager and St.Michaels James Walsh just wanted to talk about Rooney's elbow incident which has already been beaten to death in national TV and press. I am more disappointed with Tipp FM whose coverage is mainly Clonmel Town. Neither mentioned anything about the Borris/St.Nicholas classic or any other division.
I think you are right that both stations could do more. I wouldnt agree that it is mainly Clonmel Town. Last night town was the main topic but that was due to their shock defeat. On that, I didnt think Muiris Walsh was right to have such a go at the team- anyone can lose a game, thats sport. I wasnt at the game but because of the way he left Town, he couldnt wait to have a go at them. Any chance he gets now he will stick the boot in to them
Despite that, he is generally very good and to be fair to him, last night they did talk about Michaels, TSDL Youths, Carrick. The biggest problem for him and Ronan Quirke is that enough time is not devoted to soccer North or South. A couple of weeks ago i heard them talk about the TSDL 1st Division but that was the 1st time I heard the division being mentioned.

I was at the game and yes Town were poor against a very, very ordinary side. However I wouldnt pay to much attention to what Muiris Walsh has to say, he was there Sunday but was working for Tipp FM. To be honest, he is no fan of Clonmel Town. Your right Town Fan, any chance he gets, he will have a go at Town.

Is he not entitled to be critical of a poor performance as a critic??? Town had the opportunity of life time to try get some revenge for the mjc final last year in their home patch and blew it, there was a mixture of shock and disapointment around carrick sunday evening that CUFC will not be playing in the complex in the quarters what an occasion that would have being

IF muiris was at the game i fully agree he is entitled to berate the players and the performance if it was poor which it obviously was, was he at the game though? If he wasnt at the game he is only going on hear say which is unfair,Town will need to lift it for Sunday and go for goals and rip into Athenry who will only be off a long bus journey down, not easy to turn it on and off though

Athenry came down to carrick two seasons ago and were the best passing team ive seen in a long time, carrick got an undeserved 1nil win we should have being beaten but thanks to great 'keeping and poor shooting we held on, town beware these lads are no mugs

Also the post above mine said Muris was there but was working for tipp fm

Athenry actually took Carrick to penos and they had a peno in extra time to win the match, very good team, they have Seamie Crowe who's the current Irish player of the year, one off the best teams ive played against at jnr level by far, i,d fancy them to bet town 3-1.

Good posts above re Clonmel Town shock defeat - what a pity no game now between Town and Carrick. Back to the coverage on the two radio stations, could I just say I don't know nor never met any of the presenters. Have heard of Muiris Walsh and thought he was still PRO with Clonmel Town. His knowledge of TSDL is limited e.g. he had vague report on inter league youths game against Galway etc. As one poster pointed out the programme gives little time to local soccer, usually about 10 minutes at the end. Really it is a sham. The other radio station, Tipp Mid-west is worse, totally amateur, no standards whatsoever. If they are not prepared to give local soccer North and South its due coverage better they forget about it altogether.

lads were never gonna get our own radio show for local soccer the demand just aint there for it as much as those of us that follow the game would like it. some on here complaining about coverage of tsdl div 1 games , the average attendance at a div 1 tsdl game is probably between 3 and 5 people so do you think the general public are gonna be interested in detailed match reports of these games when none could be arsed even attending the games. soccer is the poor relation of sports on both tipperary radio stations but we still get abit of coverage sometimes on par timewise with local rugby so were not doing too bad its not zero coverage. gaa being dominant topic on tipp fm and tipp mid west but again this is because the general sporting public are gonna want gaa news first just the way it is.

Also on the digs about mid west radio. it is an ameteur set up fair enough but alot of people do listen in for tsdl results of the day on a sunday, mainly older football men those who may not be internet users so it serves a purpose for them. Also the lad presenting it aint that bad, gaa may be his first love but i know for a fact he would often ring people involvded in local soccer clubs to the station ( the likes of michaels, nicholas, galbally) and get scorers etc so its not as if he has zero interest in tsdl.

Back to football best of luck to saints and town sunday be great to have both in last 8.

Also great idea in my opinion playing oscar traynor game on a thurs night, thus allowing premier games to go ahead on the sunday and prob get decent crowd on the thurs night too
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

Despite what I think of him, I think you are being unfair to Muiris. He actually does have a very good knowledge of the TSDL. My problem is that I know he has it in for Town over the way he walked out on the club and never misses a chance to put the boot in to Town. That said he does his best to promote the league with very limited time, ten minutes stuck in at the end. I listen most Monday's and I find him very good on all sports. I know him and I don’t like him, I think he used Clonmel Town to build up his profile and is now looking for a "career" in radio. I don’t know what work he actually did for Town, except write the club notes. Tipp FM gave him his own show for a while. Even though it kills me to say it, I think he is good on the radio and does his best for the league.

Can I just say that I am from Cahir Park so I don’t know what Muiris did or didn’t do for Town. However I think that's very harsh. I know Muiris albeit not that well but he is a real football man and a real sports fan. Trust me guys, this lad has a knowledge of all sports and in particular local soccer second to known. To say that his knowledge of the TSDL is limited, is simply not true. I think the TSDL should be glad to have him on Monday nights. I do agree the coverage is poor but that isn't down to him or Ronan Quirke. Tipp FM is a GAA station, and everyone else is down the queue. But don’t start having a go at Muiris again on this forum

Here we go again with the Muiris bashing again. I don't know if you or Complexman ever heard the phrase 'It is best to keep quiet and be thought of as a fool rather than open it and remove all doubt' but it definitely applies to both of you. You both profess to be Town fans yet you apparently have no idea why Muiris left the club because if you did you wouldn't be on here having a go at him. In fact I think it speaks volumes of the guy that he is still a keen Town supporter despite the shabby way he was treated by your club. Give the guy a break and stop talking nonsense.

cant understand all the criticism of muiris walsh from so called town fan's. i remember muiris saying a few years back on tipp fm that clonmel town were known worldwide (a bit of an over reaction there muiris) but it just shows the passion he has for the club, i can also remember a linesman telling him to get off the field after he had ran on to celebrate a town goal last season, a clonmel town man through and through and all the criticism is a bit sad lad's. how has he gone from adoring the club to as ye claim now hating ye?? looking forward to the town v athenry game on sat athenry are coming with a big reputation but town are a tough nut to crack in the complex. also i hear wicklow are no mug's coming to cooke park on sun and st michael's better be on their guard here.

he claims to be a Town man but I never believed it. to me he jumped on the bandwagon. why would he come out with comments last Monday like " the worst second half performance he could remember from a town team"- sorry I don't want to talk about that man anymore- as I say he is good on the radio but dont give me " adoring the club" thats nonsense

I would hazard a guess and say he has done more for Town that you have or ever will. The fact that you say he is anti Town because he criticised their second half performance baffles me. What supporter hasn't had a go at his own team's performance at some stage?

well said Roberto- Muiris is a great Town man and football man

Anyway, should move on and not give these people any more time. Think Town will be up it against it on Saturday, still the fact its at home gives them a great chance. Great its on Saturday, means we will get to see Michaels game as well

maybe he would come out with a comment like that because that is the way he saw it and maybe its true. i talked to jamie during the week and he was very upset with the performance so cant really see what muiris did wrong. admittedley i dont know the bloke as well as any of ye but always found him a gent and a very passionate town man.
