thats not goin to work rushy, clubs have enough problem getting squads together without putting guidelines in place for the squads!

good post rushy. i like your idea of the homegrown players in the squads but 2 to 5 in a 23 man squad is way too little it shud be at least 12 to 15 or 16 in a 23 man squad and hey bring it in tommorrow because st michaels squad wouldnt have to change at all if your saying these players have to have played schoolboys with the club.

Maybe 12 to 13, might be too many for some clubs so maybe 6-7..only an idea lads so dont rush in and slate..its like the premier leaague when chelsea had all the money league was shockingly poor and it became the top four that no one could touch...like the tsdl all the top players go to the top 2 or 3 and makes it boring..if the fai brought in a rule like stated above then the youths of squads might get more game time and this will encourage them to stay with clubs and be involved instead of turning away or giving it up..how many youths have we seen and said are good players but when stepped up lost the interest?young fellas lose interest sitting on their hands each week when they see some fella who cant train because where he is from eg waterford, limerick etc starting before him!

The problem with this idea is that it would not be up to the FAI it would have to get it passed by FIFA who at the end of the day have the last word on all rules in Soccer and unlike in the GAA all players are free to sign any where. What is needed is a much stronger Schoolboy league that up holds it's own poaching laws!

the problem with clubs like clonmel town and st michaels is that it takes a very special player to be able to make the transition from youths straight into the first team, not many players have done it for clonmel town over the past number of years with only the likes of michael coady, rory kiely, alot of guys like david mcgrath, evan mcguire had to spend a season or two playing with towns second team. jimmy carr played a season or two with michaels second team if im not mistaken.. thats the reason why clubs like Town and Michaels need to search for special players cause the standard of player in bulk isnt coming through anymore, you can say oh we need to make the effort to give them a chance but when your looking for instance success at munster and level managers are not prepared to wait..

Conceited means having an excessively favorable opinion of one's abilities, i had to look it up! Don't know how you came up with that from my original post but sure its your opinion and opinions are like arse holes everyone has one!
BALLS, do you think that someone spotted Jimmy Carr and Cooper playing subbeto in a tree house one day and got a EUREKA moment and decided they would be good soccer players. Both theses lads played Youth football and schoolboy football for Saints i cant say for sure at what age they started but ill find out for you! Just for the record to lads Cesc Fabregas is considered to be an Arsenal "home grown" player and hes Spanish! Work that one out for me. I would really love too if people would declare what TSDL club they supported if any so everyone could see where they were coming from, or is that too transparent!

Just like to clear up, I`m not a villa fan. My point was that the big clubs poach players or attract players whatever you want to call it and thats fact not opinion. Also, clubs like Michaels ,Town and villa don`t suddenly just start poaching players when they reach 18 or are playing junior soccer. It happens all the way up through the schoolboys league. How often do you see a player from a small club making a kennedy cup team and play well only for the next season he is gone to one of the bigger clubs?
Also, why should the whole league suffer for the sake of 1 or 2 teams having a good run in the FAI or the MJC? Not only are players leaving the smaller clubs which is bad enough but lewis runs the whole fixture list around it. Why should the smaller clubs have 80% of their fixtures completed before christmas? It`s like the whole league is a feeder to trying to get one of these teams to win an FAI or a MJC so we can plaster this amazing achievment all over the TSDL website hiding the fact that the premier league is a joke! I thought it was the oscar traynor team the league feed into!

lads i know for a fact jimmy carr and cooper fahy played in the kennedy cup when they were u13 and both were st michaels players also on that team was tim kiely of st michaels who joined glasgow celtic from st michaels and young frewen of st michaels also went to reading fc from st michaels. surely both of those players would have been with the st michaels 1st team had they not gone across the water.

The ref was W Burke. No excuses, what ever the Ref does or the players think he has done, you touch a ref and your soccer career is over end of story!

do you think it will be life time ban west hammer , thats some price to pay for one moment of madness. what shocks me is that its killusty and borris who have been caught up in these incidents this season , two good clubs who wouldnt really be known for this type of behaviour
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!

Thats 3 refs in the space of a few weeks! Its getting out of hand and i think the T.S.D.L will have to step up and make examples! Its starting to turn in to a serious situation

The punishment is in most cases is 3 - 10 years and in serious cases the 10 year rule is used. The player can appeal to Munster ( never known to intervene in such cases ) or come back to the league in a few years and look to try to have his case re heard and use the I'm a changed man approach.

I know of 2 TSDL Players that got the full 10 year ban in the past. I think 1 still comes up on the players suspended list all clubs get at the start each season.

Can I just ask did either Ponyobrien or west hammer see this game before they posted their comments? I didn`t see it so I don`t know but If ye are calling for a 10 year ban I hope ye have a bit more information than "I heard from a lad who knows a lad". I`ve seen it in the premier league this weekend where players have argued with referees decisions and put their hands on them to get their attention.I didn`t see any red cards or matches abandoned. Is there any way the refs are overreacting to these situations? Maybe the referees should have to explain any big decisions to team captains and maybe this could calm the whole thing down rather than dishing out extra yellow cards to anybody who questions him?

I did not say I was there. I only informed someone of the rules and punishments used by the TSDL in the past. At no time did I state every case should get 10 years but to say a Ref should have to explain his decisions to the captain is frankly crazy. A Match is not a committee meeting, only 1 persons view counts that is the Ref, right or wrong it is the only way you can get 22 players to play within the rules, he has complete control and if He feels unsafe then he is dead right to call the game off. Until we get someone who was at the game to tell us what happened I for one will back to Ref. I was at the game in Tipp Town that was also called off by the Ref and he had a players hands around his throat, so no I do not think Refs are overreacting!
