Just to clarify a result lads, Cashel Town beat Old Bridge today 3-1, not the other way around. The mistake seems to have managed to find its way onto the TSDL site, but it's Cashel at home to Clonmel Town in the next round, not Old Bridge.
As for Cashel's chances, if they play the way they played against them in the league, they could beat them. They were very unlucky to be undone by a late goal on the break after Richie Ryan had made a number of fantastic saves to keep Clonmel in the game.
that sounds better insidetherock, should be a good game in cashel. borris and celtic has the makings of a good one aswell but michaels should win the other tie.
was thinking that result seemed abit dodgy i knew oldbridge had not exactly set division 1 alight, cashel will definatly give town a decent game, whatever the outcome of the game is we will have 3 very strong teams from tsdl in open draw with saints and celtic favourates to come through other ties
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!
Regarding junior internationals, wasn't Clonmel Town goalkeeper Stephen O'Neill capped for Republic of Ireland? Also, I know Clonmel Town's Cyril Conran won Junior player of the year (maybe around 1994 but not sure - did he win any international caps?
What club was ken ryan with when he got capped?
why did cashel youths give carrick youths a walk over yesterday?
probably had the fear of gettin an unmerciful beating.
maybe they couldnt get team together lads at that age group are a nightmare to manage when team is struggling, they will come up with every excuse possible not to show for a game
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!
What is happening with the oscar traynor team, they play saturday week and nobody seems to be aware of a squad or a manager?
Squad as follows: Taken from TSDL SITE
ClonmelTown: Ritchie Ryan, John Shanahan, Tony Scully, Ian Barnes, Barry Ryan
Clonmel Celtic: Andrew Cosgrave, Graham Doyle, Paul Kennedy, Ian Fraher
Wilderness Rovers: Sean O’Hara
Peake Villa: Alan Leahy, Michael Ryan
St.Michael’serek Breen, Jimmy Carr,ChristopherHiggins, Paul Tobin, Ross Cosgrove,Thomas Fahy, Ritchie Ryan, Paraic Fogarty
ALSO TAKEN FROM TSDL SITE - - Mike O’Brien has been appointed manager of the TSDL Oscar Traynor Trophy team
Mike O’Brien has vast experience in the junior game. He has been assistant manager of the Irish Junior/Amateur team for over a decade and is a former St. Michael's manager.
The TSDL who kicks off their 2010/11 campaign against the Munster Senior League at Cooke Park, Tipp town on Saturday13 Nov at 7.30 will be out to improve on last season’s performances by making the knock-out stages.
Mike, has attended many of the TSDL games over the years, and knows that there is plenty of talent in this league and believes this squad has the potential to repeat the success of 2003 when the famous Oscar Traynor Trophy came to the Premier County
Whats the best startin 11 out of them ye think?
ill go with:
breen
higgins---???---leahy---tobin
carr---scully---barnes
-------foggy---------
barry ryan-----paul kenneddy
what ye reckon?
where does o hara of the wilderness play?
i wud put seanie o'hara in the top 3 strikers in the league, with all respect to the wilderness and all they have achieved so far, if seanie was playin for the bigger club it wudnt be long before he wud get an international call up, a real talent, old style centre forward, in a time where decent centre forward like the old aaron moroney, billy lambe and tommy hewitt to name a few, he could be as good
anyone share my sentiments?
i only see one recognized centre half in the squad which is leahy unless your goin to put shanahan or tobin there, where is breen and chawkie?
Breen is still injured, don't know about Chawkie
seanie o hara is quality a big man with pace and plenty of skill.
my starting 11 from that squad would be
1 r ryan 2 p tobin 3 c higgins 4 j shanahan 5 a leahy 6 j carr 7 i barnes 8 andy cosgrove 9 s o hara 10 t scully 11 ross cosgrove
players missing from squad apart from breeno and chalkie who would add quality in my opinion would be marky power, mikey comerford, donal duggan, ted o connor, colin bargary. sign of how good celtic are now that they have 4 on panel and could easily have another 2 or 3.
other players who would be worth a shout if lads pull out would be richie ryan saints, michael coleman cashel or stokes saint nicholas s striker has a bag of goals already this season
if it wasnt for birds and booze id have played for ireland juniors!!!!!
