    Janesboro 2-3 Star Rvs,

Great game on a great surface.
Star went 1-0 up on roughly 40mins through a great strike from Kevin Barry from outside the area against his former club, to lead 1nil at the break.
Boro equalized on 55mins through Shane Clarke when his shot squeezed past debutant keeper for Star Mike Fitz,
Star then went ahead again on 70mins through a goal from Paul Lonergan from inside the area, but Boro were awarded a peno on 75mins, and again Clarke finished well.
With the scorline level at 2-2 and time running out, Star got the winner through Alan O'Carroll on 85mins with a neat finish from insde the 6yard box.
Boro then had a great chance to level in the dying minutes but once again Star's new keeper Mike Fitz stood tall to make a treble save.

    Star's team:
    M Fitz, G Roche, P Collins, A Morton, P Lyons, B O'Doherty, P Lonergan, Dale McNamara, K Barry, T Butler, D Hannon.
    Res: R Flynn (for P Lonergan), A O'Carroll (for T Butler), D McNamara, G Tully, G Walters, G Busoli, K O'Doherty, M McDonnell, D Clancy.

I think your all getting too soft. As for damages to the pitch nothing that a fork and a few days break would not sort out.
As for your summer soccer be prepared to lose a large number of teams if you revert to to GAA clashing not to mention anyone who has kids on Summer holidays.
    Toughen up!

fairview 3-1 corbally.corbally took the lead after 25mins through ken neylon after a mix up in fairview defence.fairview equalised on 30mins through jonathan grant and it ended up level at half time.both teams came out of the blocks fast in second half but fairview got a break on 55mins when darren harrington finished well from outside the box from a breaking ball.corbally pushed on chasing an equaliser and were denied a stonewall penalty after 70mins which could have swung things.fairview scored a third through a james hayes deflected shot on 75mins which sealed the points.a good battle of a game and a fairly level game but in fairness to fairview they got 4 shots on target and scored 3 goals and unfortunately for us we had plenty of chances but couldnt get the second goal needed.afew dodgy decisions by ref today from which both sides had very dubious penalty decisions ordered against them.corbally have alot to take from this game but need to get afew more points on the board.on a final note the fairgreen was in excellent condition today considering the rain that fell over the weekend.overall it was good to see most games going ahead.maybe it isnt the worse thing to let the refs make the call on a sunday morning.

good three points for us against a good carew outfit.how carew didnt score in the second half is beyond me.some fine goalkeeping and defending by our lads also a nice bit of luck.have to say the ref was good yesterday.also have to say he met us at nine o clock to check pitch so if it was unplayable we could let carew know and not have them travelling so fair play to him on that.

I stand by every word that i posted on saturday last. Spent 1 hour yesterday and 2 hours today trying, and i stress trying to repair the damage caused by yesterday fixture. maybe i am being selfish but i honestly think that the playing matches on heavy and cut up pitches is not for the betterment of the game. thursday through saturday was extreme weather...i bet none of the council were worried about damage to their facilities....there is also a finacial cost in churning pitches up. resources have to put in place to renovate the damage and this is taking resources from improving the game as a whole. still a bit undecided on summer football, but might be worth a try...

Personally I think the pitches would be like the GAA pitches with bare patchs all over the place if it turns to summer soccer

Do you think its taking resources from the club when players get signing on fees or "expenses" ?

    YES!!!!!
how about your opinion. we must have the only council in sport that it main aim seems to be making money.....nothing given back too the clubs in grants..charged to use THIER OWN GROUND (jackmann).i will give you a simple example of how backward our game is.when Puma signed on as the main sponsor of the irish rugby team, each club in ireland recieved an amount of FREE puma rugby balls in relation to their clubs size. with the fai you have to buy a certain brand of footballs(not very cheap) if you progress in the main competition.....one organisation is using their sponsorship in a positive manner, one is being used by its sponsor to sell goods...same thing happened a few years ago with the sponsorship of the premier league bu a kit supplier....

was down JACKMAN 5euro entrance fee more LDMC than supporters ,could have charged 2euro and enticed more people.Bigger gate good for the game all round.

Put your name forward for council.
Get your club to put forward a motion at AGM
Whinging and complaining is useless - Do something about it.
I actually think they are doing a good job on local council.
Fixtures are up to date - League table were never so balanced - Info is freely available (not like years ago when table appeared every few months) - Jackman is in good shape - Finances are ok (I presume!)
Sure some clubs have a gripe - but every organisation is like that.
Good or bad they are all volunteers.
As regards FAI sponsorship - hard to blame LDMC for that package

Not trying to get involved in your discussion on the Summer soccer argument, but when i see false imformation put out in this argument i feel i have to comment. We in Mayo are playing Summer soccer for 16 years and bare pitches is non existent, the vast majority of pitches are cut and kept up to the same standard as n the premiership in England. I would sugest that you spend your holidays in Mayo this Summer and check out the pitches Manulla,Ballyheane,Milebush,Ballina and Killala.

no offence. In times of recession 2euro equals bigger gates, plenty of banter,BETTER ATMOSPHERE for both teams playing and all involed
