    Greenwood 6 Kanturk 2

Was one of worst performances of the year by us,not taking anything away from greenwood whos finishing was top notch!
6-2 definaly flattered them, there keeper made 2 of the best saves ive seen in a long time!
    3nil down at half time!

I do think they will go on to win premier,i no kilumney will have a say in it,but the games will catch up with them!
    Not ruling out bohs either!
5 games left now starting with leeds, hoping to consolidate in the league, dont want to be dragged into a relagation battle!

Anybody why theres no fixtures patricks day??

Ballynanty 3 - 1 Springfield. FAI JNR CUP.

Game of two halfs really ... I thought!. Bally had the fair share of possession during the first half but really only threatened and tested our keeper once aside from the penalty.
We could/should easily avoided conceeding the penalty, indecision between centre half & keeper in deciding who should clear the ball lead to Bally striker nipping in and attempting to round our keeper who had no choice but to bring him down to avoid a tap in. No qualms here - defo spotter!. Well taken aswell-down to keepers bottom right, he had no chance - peno was inch perfect. In 1down at half time but knew if we got one we could pip them.
Second half we owned majority of the possesesion and scored with header from corner. 1-1 back in the game!.
Not going to say we lost game cos of officials but it certainly does help when their hometown officials(cant understand why Fai didnt bring in some from say Tipp or Clare), and when u have the home team on first name terms with Referee ('Robbie this and Robbie that'') - it does help a bit.
Their tall striker scored with header from corner(see below) . . . but my opinion he shouldnt have been on the pitch. Prior to this he levelled one of our centre halfs with a blatant elbow challanging for a header. Defo a red card, but hometown ref only gave a yellow. Linesman nearest had perfect view but never spoke up!!! - perhaps it was the home support behind him he was frightened of.
Couple of mins later Bally got a corner which wasnt a corner (came back of Bally striker after our keeper block at his feet). This is where their tall striker scored. Some say it was 50/50 whether ball crossed the line but my opinion it did!.
Bally last goal could have been avoided, poor defending on the bye-line, which allowed their sub ghost into our box and finish at near post.
Bally did miss(bad miss) a spotter with 5mins to go, but game was over at this stage. Springfield had resigned themselves to the loss at thhis stage and were sick to the death of the tendancy of the officials to side with home team on decisions.

Finally, best of Luck to Bally in the next round.

    leeside 1 vs macroom 0

hard fought game in little island this morning, leeside having more of the ball in the 1st half chance were hard to come by until a missed place pass from our left back gave it away delea and getting with a net one two cant remember who scored took it well 1-0 leeside.2nd half half taught we came more into it had the better chances of the two.their keeper made a great save from our center midfielder snaz on the volley.ad a free kick great block from condon rebound fell to us another great block from the other center half.nearly snatched a point with minutes to go but our center half put it over..felt we deserved a point at least..

8games to go 5 at home 3 away coming back into a bit form very unlucky against kinsale good win last weekend and unlucky again today..top 5 is still looking good for our 1st year witch wouldnt be bad..

Very quiet on here lately! So who have being the stand out players for people this season. I would say Holden(Macroom), Gettings & Condon(Leeside) have being the best i've seen so far. Anybody else want to add to the list?

Wilton, Carrigtwohill and I think Glenthorn are waiting for last 16 fixtures.

    Castleview 0 v 5 Blackstone Rovers

Happy to take the 3 points against an understrenght Castleview. Clean sheet, 3 strikers scored and some decent showings.

    Result

Blarney St Ath 3 Park Utd 2

A game for the neutral!!! Had everything.

Welcomed back Damien Peelo and Niall Dalton but in the same breath Neil Greany and Gary Nolan were both away this weekend. Willie Big Bang Casey taking a few Cork Supporters with him. Started out brightly got the ball down and tried playing around Park, There Centre Half was very good and put a stop to a lot of what we trying to do in the last 3rd. Park got into it after around 20 mins, ball over the top, in to the corner ,our full back pulled on it and connected with the on coming winger. Eamonn O Sullivan took it and blew it acroos the goal. We took the lead through some good work down the left by Timmy Kelly played into the middle and Lawerence Betts gave in a defence splitting ball , which Gary Coughlan ran onto and finished with good composure. Park got a few corners and eventually one went in. Ball was whipped in and a slight tough from one of our players put it pass Eddie and Timmy on the line. 1 all. We gave away too many free kicks too but conditions were getting bad and the pitch was turning into an ice rink. Took the lead once again shot from Betts ,the keeper saved and Alan O Brien ran in, too shall way say bundle it over!!! It hit his chest, knee and then a diving header to put it in!!. 5 left in the half and we were saying to ourselves get in 2-1 up and a big wind behind us in the 2nd, wishfull thinking! Gave away another free kick on the edge of the box. Eamonn stepped up once again , Eddie saved it but the follow in was knocked in. Ref blew up for the end of the half and it was 2-2.
We centred for the 2nd put the ball out to the right Jp whipped it in and it went to far, Simon got it turned in on his right and hit it in to the bottom corner. 2-2 with 30 seconds gone in the 2nd half. We seemed to sit back and try to catch them on the break. Park had another free but put it over the bar. Park recieved a penalty with 15 to go, Darren Lynch took it but Eddie saved. Brought on GaryLleahy with 10 to try hold it up front which he done very well. Was unlucky not to score with a good header to the bottom corner but the Park Keeper got down well . Finished 3-2 to the Street and thats 12 points from 12 this month but a huge game next week at home to Leeside on Saturday at 3pm.

    AOH CUP

    Bohemians 1-3 Springfield A.E.T

Scoreline does not do us any justice turning point in the game came 5 mins into the 1st half of extra time when our player was judged to have handled the ball on the line recieved a red card and penalty awarded to Springfield which they scored
On the game Springers took the lead after a mistake from our Keeper who was playing his 1st game of the season in for the injured Tommy Martin good volley from the Springers man but should have been easy enough to catch but with the increasing rain making the ball very slippy the ball slips from his grasp into the net.Disaster as the game was even enough ..........
Came into half time still 1 down but felt the game was there still for us.
2nd half we started well had Springers on the backfoot and got our reward on 65 mins when Trevor Hallisey who was having a blinder of a game swung in a great corner and Deccie Gostal knocked in from 6 yards to make it 1-1.......
Couple of half chances for both sides but the ref blew to send the game into extra time.
As i said above the turning point happened half way through this half with the sending off and the peno stayed 2-1 till the end of the 1st half.
2nd half we went out and attacked got a half chance with 2 mins ago but got caught on the break for the springers man to finish of the game with the 3rd goal
Dissapointed with the result missing a few players through injuries and suspensions but felt we could have taken this game only for that one incident that changed the whole game on his head ........best of luck to Springfield in the next round
WE ARE GOING UP I SAID WE ARE GOING UP!!!!! BOHS CHAMPIONS 1A 09/10

Wouldn't normally complain about refs - theirs is a thankless task - but after 30 years of playing football, think I saw a new one today.
Be interested to hear what anyone thinks. Last minute, one down, ball into box, centre half climbing all over attacker. Think Hierro on Quinny 2002. Loud appeals. Whistle goes.
The verdict? An indirect free kick in the box. Why ref, ask both sides. "Pushing" he confirms.

Astonishing. As Law 12 confirms, an indirect free kick can be awarded in the penalty area if a player "impedes the progress of an opponent" but this can only be the verdict if there is no contact between the players.

I thought giving an indirect free kick for "not-deliberate" handball was the worst I ever saw, but this one takes the honours I think.

Saw one in last few weeks who gave an indirect free kick for obstruction. Fair enough I hear you say. "Referee" says one of the lads on the line, "the player was tripped". "Thats right" says the man in the middle, "his run was obstructed by the trip" . Incredible. Grant it,it was a schoolboy game but the official is reffing years.

    Gas, that's even worse.

Of course our fella knew all the rules about your bicycle shorts having to match the colour of your togs alright. Nothing would get past him in the fashion stakes.

Amen you are talking about refereeing...just came on to drag the whole thing off topic.

Just joined the referee branch in Auckland, I cannot wait to get back into it.

Can't remark on the Cork branch wasn't a member while I refereed last season. Structure here is very good. Training every Monday and Thursday and weekly meetings on the rules. They also run exchange programmes here for referees to go to the UK, Australia and America.

They have independent booklets which gives examples of how and how not to apply the rules. Basic stuff I know but its really helpful.

We also have the power here to issue two red cards to the one player with the second red card carrying a minimum three match ban.
