Things are very quiet, slipped off the front page and all. All is not the same without Littleman
Have to agree with ya there ola.
Things have really picked up pace in the last 2 weeks. Different stories every day......
Some are rubbish as oli says - some to do with our own team which helps us to keep to ourselves & some to do with other people that you hope arent true....and maybe the odd one you hope is!!!
Here's a selection (no offence and take it all with a pinch of salt!!)
Last years top 3 teams in the Prem have lost between 3 and 6 players each!!!
6 or 7 of the Prem A sides are struggling (to clarify we dont believe any of these)
Teams moving pubs, pitches, managers!!!!
Im looking forward to it all. Fixture out this Saturday I suppose........only 3 more sleeps!!!
Opening fixtures up. note how UCC A and UCC B got a bye in every round of the cups. I know college isnt back til sept but what about an "open draw"........... Fair enough deferring league fixtures but getting byes in the cups is wrong. They should not be allowed enter the cups if they cant fulfill the fixtures like everyone else.
ballyvolane 1st game away tough place to go bring it on..
"Winning isn't everything. Wanting to win is."
Well spotted Boo.
I actually dont have a problem with it. My problem is with the old lack of communication. Could have been said at either of the two delgate meetings this summer. Just tell us, UCC wont be back and its fair to give them a chance.
Now you begin to ask yourself how "open" any of the draws were?
A few teams who handed out hammerings last year in AOH round 1 have got "byes" to round two. It may just be luck, but doesnt the UCC thing make everything suspicious?
While Im in the paranoid buzz, I believe I mentioned before in delegate meetings if there was anything could be done to avoid involving Park in midweek games - not fair on them to travel or teams to travel to them during rush hour - guess where our first game on a Tuesday is?????
Conspiracy theories are alive and well!!!
Park, I presume your club refunds us our toll fees!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ballyvolane home pitch in Pfizer now?
Littleman will be back id say he's just keeping quiet till the season actually starts, its Grattan for us next Sunday morning in the Fairfield, nice start to premier A football i suppose if you wanna compete up in these top 2 leagues we gotta be able to compete with the best and they are 1 of the top 2 or 3 around... We look forward to it
hi lads , ya see its a bit quiet but tis the usual at this time of the year. Tipping away ourselves 3 times a week for the last 4 weeks so fitness coming along. played 3 games and happy how they have went in terms of fitness, touch, gelling together. The usuals are still their with a few old faces back and 4 new players so looking foward to the new season. Have Leeds sunday morning in our final preseason game.
Delighted to see we are starting with the Mossie but from what i hear it will only be 2 group games then a 2 weeks of league then MJC and Fai Cup, would have loved to have played out the group phase of the Mossie.
Byes in the cups??? conspiricy theories!!!! Horse24 Murphys law!!!!
No doubt Littleman will be back, my belief is that he is too busy at the moment with training the gratts and chasing players but he will be back. I hope anyway

thats a major signing for them to make lads ,saw him a few times last year with leeds what a player. any other major signings doing the rounds ,.
Who are you really Shetland?? You seem to be very knowledgable on all things Ballyvolane ;-)
I tought Mr Nolan had signed with Glenthorn?
Blackpool have moved ground?
Grangevale have moved ground?
As i posted my experiences refereeing for a bit last year might as well post about today.
On a tourist visa in Australia at the moment, travelling. I went to watch my old team that i played for out here, while i was on a working holiday visa. Ended up doing the line with for the game. Quite the experience. Had done it before but not in a capacity where i considered myself a referee.
Not as easy as I thought it would be.
The set up was quite good. The game would've been played at the AUL division 1/2 I guess. But over here they have division one and division one reserves and the reserves play first and the first team play straight away after with the players for the former available to play for the latter.
It ensures players who'd be at the level but not suitable for position to get game time and force their way into the starting line ups.
The KDSA (The North Shore Sydney AUL) ensure there is a referee and at least one linesman at all games and one does the first game and they swap over for the first team game.
The games at the very lower leagues and it goes to division eight might have to referee themselves but they have players trained in the rules.
The two teams playing on this occasion were Mount Colah, leading the league by four points against mid-table Greenwich. I approached the referee before the game that i was available to fall in as the second linesman if required.
The referee is definitely grateful to have the extra pair of eyes to call the offsides and fouls that he can't see. I was able to make three/four calls for the fouls he didnt see.
I had a disaster of a start i flagged the wrong way for an obvious throw going in the opposite direction. the referee was quick to correct me and i apologised to the team behind me. I just simply forgot which team was playing which way and i also forgot to flag for one throw.
I wasn't quite up to speed for the first few minutes but as the game wore on i got more into it. Made three offside calls which were on the mark in my mind and i was more sharper when i was flagging the team i used to play with in attack. Must admit it is quite hard keeping up with the second last player while also trying to watch for throws and the rest of the plays. I can understand why linesmen miss offsides when they struggle to keep up with the play.
This was my first game since the end of last season.
They also have unlimited interchange subs here which works quite well at this level.
Saw the best reason why subs jerseys should be covered. The other linesman called an offside against a mount colah player who looked to be in an offside position and interfering with play but thing was he was a substitute who wasn't even playing and not on the pitch but because he hadn't his jersey covered up the linesman didnt know the difference.
the referee made a wise decision to drop the ball.
And the referee booked a player but he said he'd a policy of not lifting the yellow card above his head cause he said it was like looking down on the player and he felt he'd never go any further than these leagues so he was better than the player so when he showed the yellow card, he issued it around his chest.
I got no abuse whatsoever except for the obvious about my accent and being a paddy. One child asked me why was i barking like a dog when i was calling the ref (sounded like woof).
For the record the team i was playing with threw away a 2-0 advantage and were lucky to hang on for the draw.
Just to add the pitch was a disgrace. Don't know how anyone can play on a pitch as hard and as dusty as that. I'd prefer a farmer's field any day. Oh and as it was played on a cricket oval, there was a big wicket in the middle of the pitch and it wasn't even lined properly.

A big thumbs up to Barry Peelo and the Corkaul site for posting fixtures and dates for all cup games. Managers and Players alike can plan ahead so well done and keep up the good work.
Good signing for my old club Ballyv in Gary Nolan. Why did he leave Leeds ??. I reckon the pitch in pfizers will suit them too. I think Shetland must be a Ballyv man in disguise !!!!!!
