Fair point Horse, not knocking clubs here.Far from it but there point in all of this was to get teams with the best facilities up into Premier League.
Cas, I understand your point and maybe your "spare" fixture should have been that weekend, especially with notice. However, I dont think we can say anything about any fixtures this year. He has other roles as well.
Without this Fixtures Sec, we have no-one. Thats not sensationalism - its a statement of fact. A few people, AUL committee members & non committee members, turned down the role. Its more a time consuming role rather than a difficult role I think but I honestly dont know. For the future, is it possible to share the role? Could a Prem A sec like me be Fix Sec for a different division? What other ideas have we got?
Black and Red, I still believe the league should look into buying its own ground. Land is cheaper now, good construction pricing should be available. Look at the number of teams hiring grounds like Pfizers, CIT etc. It would give teams who are promoted a ground to use and the money is in the league.
A team who is refused promotion for facilities could crash and burn - players would walk you would believe. The guys behind the scenes could be working as hard as possible and it may not be enough. What reward is that for them for their volunteerism?
We went a run of about 10 cups over a few years where we got byes....................in the last few years we seem to be one of the first out of every hat!!! Wilton, Greenwood and maybe Kinsale. After that maybe Kilumney........who's next - Barcelona???? and the funniest thing is.....it may not be the worst section of the draw - Cas!!!!
Unbeaten Ard Na Laoi away, Ballyvolane at home (where is owl gone?) and then Wilton at home. 3 tough games - 3 good games - 3 wins would be lovely!
Pearse Celtic 7 - 1 Bweeng great result and performance in very bad conditions pitch was poor but i thought we coped well.Nice to get our first compeitive win of the season and hope to get our second away to castleview next week in the league.
Any resul from Gratts/Leeside game?
Grattan 2-3 Leeside
I think these two teams had two nil all draws last year and on opening day I was expecting the same thing. Decent crowd up in O'Neil park to see a decent enough game.
Grattan went one up scoring direct from a very soft free kick. Leeside equalised shortly after. Grattan went 2-1 up scoring after Leeside struggled with another set piece.
Leeside equalized with a penalty with about 15 to go and scored a soft winner with 5 to go.
Not sure what to make with both teams. Grattan looked string in midfield and look to have more up front this year. However they struggled at the back today. Apart from set pieces Leeside looked strong at the back again however didnt look as strong as last year. Maybe they were down a few.
was their myself taught it was very scrapy game leeside keeper was very poor...left with ten minutes in to the 2nd half did it improve much?

Never easy up in O'Neill park Holden, any win there is a good win.Could be a close league this year with quite a few surprises along the way.
AND yes olachico he did play today and scored twice GARRY NOLAN,matin cronin 1 and sub john magnier 2 .3 of regular back four missing and had too work hard.went two up before half time, went to sleep in second half and conceded 2 soft goals, into extra time and got two in first period and one in second.
AOH Cup - De Courcey Albion 1-2 Bohs
Should have won this, threw it away in the end. We played pretty well in fairness & scored a well worked goal. Bohs piled the pressure on alright & scored a well finished equaliser.. The game turned when 2 of their players had to go off with injuries leaving 9 on 11, we piled the pressure on and got caught napping at the back when they scored the winner. The ref was useless, seemed to be intimidated by them & gave them anything they shouted for. All his decisions were about 5 seconds delayed till he heard them shouting... We had a clear penalty turned down which was right in front of him at the end. He started the 2nd half at 11.45 on the dot & with the 2 lads injuries that took 10 minutes or more to sort out, he blew the whistle on 12.28... ??? 33/34 minute half?? We questioned him but he just kept walking, pure disgrace... But no sour grapes to the Bohs lads, we should have finished them off when we had the chance and wont take away their win from them... All in all a good result on paper for a div 3 side against a prem a side..
Glad to get out of this one alive and into the next round. We thought they would be a decent side and they were. The game started fairly evenly, and they went in front from a sloppy piece of play on our side. We were in the ascendency from the moment we equalised 10 minutes or so later, when their keeper left a soft one in. We had a half dozen really good chances, and took two of them to lead 3-1 at the break. We could have scored more, before they made it interesting by scoring on 75. We sealed it with a neat finish five minutes later.
As our friend from Kilowen said last week, they were lethal on the break. Nice pitch, nice set up. Ref was very good - didnt have much to do or say, but did what he had to do well with a smile on his face.
Sunday mornings would never be our strenght, but all 20 were accounted for. Our managers have the horrible job all managers want with 15 or so deserving a first 11 start.
One cup game down, two to go.
Greenwood 4 - 1 Kilumney
Very hard fought win. One up after 40 mins. Kilumney got it back to 2-1 mid second half. No doubt Kilumney will be up there challenging at the top.
Much better start for us this season, considering we lost our first 4 last year.

How about this local derby- Killowen v Donoughmore Athletic.
It's our first time in ages that we have entered the MJC and at least we have home advantage against our neighbours Donoughmore. We have met a few times in recent years and games are usually tight between us. Looking forward to it.

are you for real holden, macroom to take points away from home against leeside or grattan i dont think so,results for yee so far this year wouldnt inspire much confidence ,a struggle away to wilton b isnt going to do it.these are seasoned premier teams and dont loose very often at home ,leeside especially.
