    Pat's and Sligo games

Highilghts of the Pat's game here -

Thought we faded too much to be too unhappy with what we got, but it's annoying to lose a game to a set-piece ten minutes from time. Injuries to shorty (not sure what), Mulhall (looked like groin) and Harding (classic hamstring pull-up) will hit us hard for tomorrow's game in Sligo. Looking like up to half a team out injured (McMillan, Shorty, Mulhall, Harding, Bolger, Creevy not fully fit, Fallon).

In positive news, I thought O'Connor did ok on his full debut. Bit unlucky to end up at right full though.

Should we expect any UCD fans down tomorrow night?
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Not of a weeknight I'm afraid. I might make it down - depends if I feel like a three hour drive back to Wicklow straight after or not - and I think Harpo goes to UCD games at any level more or less full time at this stage, not having much better to do.

There's a supporters' bus being organised anyway, all depends on demand whether it goes or not.

Hm. Have to say last night was the first time all season I couldn't see us getting anything out of the game. A much weakened team - missing Shortall, Harding, Bolger, Mulhall, McMillan, McMahon and with Creevy still not match fit enough to start. Ger Barron, Paul O'Conor and Mick Kelly had all of one Premier Division start between them. Sounds like we got hammered first half, and yet in the end, we have to be disappointed with defeat. At least it seems we're still playing ok, and the fringe players are getting a bit of experience. Need to stop the run of defeats on Friday though, and next year could be good if we continue to improve the way we have been over the last 18 months.

    McMillan actually played.
By all accounts we were very lucky to get the three points. I still think UCD have a much better footballing side than any of Drogheda, Galway or Bray from what I've seen over the season so I can't imagine ye will be sucked into the relegation battle.
However, in a ten team league a couple more losses and all of a sudden you're in major trouble.

    Dave McMillan, his brother.

Agree that we should be better than the other three teams, especially if Galway go into meltdown as they've claimed. But at the start of our current four-loss run, a win in Drogheda would have put us up into third the way other results were at one stage. Now we're cut adrift even from sixth, with another gap to fifth. Bit disappointing. But we'll learn and hopefully be even stronger next year.

After the football UCD played last night, it would be a travesty if they were relegated.

Put this in main forum put though id put it here too:

Great win for us against UCD last night. Although we bossed the first half and probably could have been 3 up, I have to say fair play to UCD for coming out and giving a good footballing performance in the second half. They passed the ball well and it made for a good entertaining game overall. In the Showgrounds they played more football in the second half than the table toppers of Shams and Pats put together.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!

agreed - not once in the game did they play a long ball to the tall centre forward- ucd were a joy to watch and will have no trouble finishing mid-table if that was a weakened team.
kilduff ward and oconnor stood out in particular and even though i have been critical of ucds lack of support in the past , i must stay i think the premier division is richer for the football they attempt to play.
Maybe too much passing for their own good at times.
Anyway hope the rest of the season goes well for ucd.
