Why, Sir Roy would not grace the field of a non competitive match. Far Eastern tours with Man Utd maybe, but Ireland...............

Anyway, I'm done on the debate. Until next time

It can't be a bad thing that Keano is back. Put the past in the past, and accept that he will definitely improve the midfield. It should be interesting to see what reception he'll get in Lansdowne. I know I'll definitely be cheering him on.

    we don't need him at 33, 35 or 75.

we did need him during the world cup

correct we don;t need him with a dodgy hip but fully fit yes we do.

Me thinks without him this team wouldn't make the WC....at least with him we have increased our chances.

we need him at 33 and 35.....correct we won't need him at 75 as he willl have retired from management at that stage

whey hey...best news i heard in a long time

still better than any other midfielder available

    see above

he'll probbaly still be better than half the rest when he's 75!

Obviously we didn't need him in the world cup after our respectable tame exit

We don't need him injured like he was last year but now we do

Just heard it on 2fm, Have to say I'm delighted. Any midfield with Duff and Keane is going to compete with anyone. Just wondering is there anything else involved? Doubt he'll play against Poland and Romania, but will he be involved with all games after that or just competitive games?

Furthermore, it lays to rest the suggestion that he had some back problem or the set up wasn't professional enogh for him. I mean, would someone seriously suggest that the FAI has gone really professional and are a mighty body now? Or that they've invented the miracle cure for sore backs? Roy Keane left the World Cup because he wanted to. He precipitated his inevitable dismissal by walking out, and then returning to have a tantrum at Mick McCarthy.
No one is saying we are going to win the world cup but we can sure give it a better go now then without Roy.

Well Kerr has taken over and team affairs have become significantly more professional then before. Your waffling on about the FAI been miracle curers or something ... I think thats down to rehab and physio.

So the traitor comes crawling back.

What happened that bad hip? Thought he couldn't play for 'medical reasons'?
Until he apologises for lying to us all, I don't want to see him playing again.

I thought and will always think he was in the wrong over Saipan but I am welcoming him back with open arms. IMHO he's better than anything we have in the centre of midfield and makes the team stronger, and that's all I really care about. If it makes Ireland stronger, I'm happy.

You'll have my voice behind you when you walk out next at Landsdowne, Roy.
Maybe you should put her on a leash, agent-man.

    Hes past it.

Not able to compete anymore at top european or international level i'm afraid.

He should have been playing for the last few years and been announcing his retirement today from international football, not the other way around.

Boo him. Everyone should boo the **** for lying to us.
Let's just see how fickle people are when they welcome him back.

Will be "great craic" between the Pro Roy + Anti Roy Factions, be like the good old days again when the supporters from the Homeland took offence or couldn't understand us supporters with "english accents" following the Boys in Green.................Bring him on the Pikey Manc !!!!

So his performance against Patrick Viera in the FA Cup semi-final was not up to scratch was it. If he did that twice against the French in the Qualifiers I reckon we could nick a point or three
