Cheers, i wasn't sure. Levski were the third highest ranked team in the draw which included team like Olyimpiacos and the likes. Says it all really - not much hope of further progression there.

Our hopes lie with Bohs and Shams.

I look at euro games 3 ways; likelihood of winning it, what sort of jolly is it, will the club make some money on it.

I think Rovers have been screw on all 3 fronts. I’d expect the Israelis to get through, as that league is fairly strong. The fans would only have a week to organise a trip there, and obviously a fair bit of expense. Now, they’ll probably get a decent home crowd (by far more than the other Irish clubs), its stil going to cost them a fortune to get there. Add in hiked up security costs (in flotilla protest way) and it’s a logistical nightmare.

Fingal may have the hardest task but they have the nicest trip. Probably won’t be a crowd puller but flghts to Portual are cheap and plentiful.

Dundalk should win the first tie, meaning they’r ein bonus time in Europe. Anything else they get is gravy.

If Dundalk and Bohs don't get through a round then there'll be a few happy Longford fans.

Think will take some very good performances in the second round for anyone to progress. Probably Fingal best shot at progression from there.

3rd round CL draw is after 1st fixture in second round?

Are Maretimo on the island of Madeira - rather than the mainland - somewhere north west of the Canaries?

Nice spot - but flights less frequent and much more expensive?

I went on holiday out there last year and it was pretty cheap. You can fly direct from UK airports or via Lisbon.

Bnei Yehuda may be down as favoourites for both matches and they have a small bit of European experience.
But I think Bnei Yehuda will be vunerable if they play in both rounds.

FC Ulysses ( takes them four or five attempts before fans get to finish reading a match report).
    Armenia FF
    http://www.ffa.am/en/
(don't know if the contact details within are useful).
They seem to be from Yerevan, which is always helpful.
As Shamrock Rovers are at home they have two weeks to arrange transport and accomodation. Which gives fans hoping to travel time to get the 7 day Saturday night stay options. Using a Travel Agent, as the FC will do, may allow time to hold two differentr itineraries and drop one when the destination is confirmed.
It would be awful if there was controversy during the 1st rd. game and Shamrocjk Rovers fans had to wait an extra day or two until appeals were exausted.

Madeira is down in the middle of the Atlantic (why does UEFA allow these teams off Africa to compete in Europe?).
But there should be flights from Mainland Europe (outside of Portugal) almost everyday.
Seven night package would be a good trip too. (what harm to the miss the other leg).

Awful draw for us, finally back in European competition and we end up with two non-European potential opponents.

The third qualifying round will be split into two separate sections: one for champions and one for non-champions. The losing teams in both sections will enter the play-off round of the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League.

So if Bohs beat TNS then lose in the 3rd round they will be in the playoff round of the Europa. Sounds good. I'm confident they'll beat TNS without any problems.

By controversy I mean when more than party have has a problem and puts in a protest against another party regarding the result of a game.
I don't agree with your view on geography.
The Armenian U21's played in tallaght recently and I hope an Armenian club side gets to play there too this season.
I'm sure there's some fans from Cork who travelled to the Soviet Union to watch Ararat Yerevan that might be able to help Rovers fans with Hotels and Airlines.

In other trampelled grass news Bohs fans should enjoy their trip to Wales/England.

Good luck to all the eight clubs and everyone travelling.

harpo, the 7 night packages aren't really a runner if fans wish to see their teams' league games. After Rovers would be playing a league on the Sunday after their home leg (and away leg) (unless the league changes things from the previous three years)

    Dodge,
I meant 7 night package to Madiera and a 7 day advance purchase of tickets for medium-haul flights.
If costs are an issue, this reduces those issues. You keep throwing in more issues though.

Your post does remind me that Shamrock Rvs v. UCD is down for the weekend after they return from their 2nd leg on the other side of the Continient. UCD may play a game against Sligo Rovers in The Showgrounds. So UCD will be travelling for nearly the same length of time as Shamrock Rovers.

Bray Wanderers came back from there trip on the Black Sea against Trabzonspor and beat us at Belfield Park in the League Cup the day after.

Another time Roddy Collins stated UCD were "trying to pull a fast one" because we held firm on playing a league game on a Sunday, moving it back from the Friday, and not Monday as Collins wanted.
